Darwin Travellers Tales
We hired a car and visited Kakadu which we thoroughly enjoyed. We took an evening sail on the pearling lugger and enjoyed this. We were somewhat disappointed in the Tiwi Island tour. While it was interesting it was far too expensive at $175 for the land tour and the Tiwi Arts and Crafts Centres were not staffed by Tiwi artists with only two european people present. No pottery on sale.
We visited both Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks. Very interesting, although a bit hot and humid for hiking. Great boat ride in Kakadu on the Yellow Water Billabong. A car was important for getting arround. We also enjoyed the Aquascene. A bit touristy, but fun nonetheless, and we got great pictures of the fish.
National Parks around Darwin are great. I would recommend a camping trip to Kakudu and Katherine.
Visited. Kakadoo, Litchfield great places. In Darwin, the Darwin Sailing Club was a great place to watch the sunset as well as a great place to eat, the food was tasty and cheap.
The underground oil tunnels, Art Gallery & museum, Boat Trailer Club, MGM Grand, fish feeding. After visiting several sites in Kakadu we were fortunate enough to have the use of a friend''s vehicle to find our way around Darwin.
Kakadu and Litchfield are well worth doing. Litchfield can easily be done in a day via rental car.
We were only a night in the hotel and were in the city on foot on the way.
Made a 4wd tour by my own. Car renter was "top end 4wd" located in Darwin: I cannot recommend this company; because there were some problems and they didn''t hold all their promises, concerning the type of the car.
Tours to Kakadu National Park (a must!!), Darwin, harbour cruise, Kathryn Gorge. Supermarket within 5 minutes walk. Bus connection to Darwin.
Kakadu National Park trip excellent on coach. Hire car for Litchfield national Park, very easy to get round.
