Although this stay was only a few hours, it was great to see a friendly face when we arrived in the middle of the night and had to leave again in the early morning. As always, staff were wonderful, room was great, and the few hours sleep much appreciated prior to our 6 hour bus trip.

The rate was great but the room was a bit tired. Attention to detail with cleaning in nooks and crannies would improve the general feel. Reception was a bit understaffed - tough times, no doubt as it looked like lots of rooms empty. Staff in hotel and restaurant were friendly and helpful.

THe Grand Chancellor is my preferred and reasonable overnight stay option when travelling through Auckland. Although a little oldish, the rooms have everything one may need for a good nigt's sleep. The hotel also shares a 10 NZD regular shuttle from/to the airport (unfortunately not at 2 AM) with a Holiday Inn and a few other hotels in the area. The only negative experience was that once I had checked out, there was no way I could get wifi internet access while waiting for the shuttle.

We found this hotel to be very good, in a good position near the airport. Service was good, airport shuttle was good and we ate at the restaurant and and found that to be good also and on our visit could recommend it.
