The snorkelling trips were great but a bigger jetty/or platform for young kids to play or feed the fishes would be ideal. We enjoyed the mountain trekking but would not recommend it for children younger than 5/6 years old.

The coral and ocean is quite beautiful. And you can enjoy snorkel. If you want to drink wine out of the Hotel, you can buy at the Hotel. There are several good restaurants around but they have only beer usually.

We spent most of our time in the hotel since I was down with fever. My two older sons had their wonderful time at the pool.

Didn''t find anything particularly interesting in Kuala Terengganu. But worth going to the Central Market if you want to shop for batik cloth or local food products. If time allows, go to Lake Kenyir, which is beautiful and the largest man-made lake in South-East Asia. Lake Kenyir is an hour''s scenic drive from the city. There are two nearby golf courses, which are pretty good - Astana (a hill course) and Ibai (a Links course)

We were a little ignorant of the state being a full on "dry" Islamic state. There is much beauty there, but we felt a lot more comfortable in Kuantan.

The easiest way is to go by taxi around town.
