Kuantan Hotel Reviews

Hotel very conveniently located near the Kuantan city centre and nearby beaches such as Berselah and Batu Hitam. Was able to enjoy a mix of shopping, jungle trekking (in Pandan Waterfall), 4x4 driving (in our SUV) in Sg. Lembing, and of course strolling on the beaches. Food generally inexpensive. Restaurants to recommend include Pak Su Seafood (famous for its stuffed crab), ikan bakar (grilled seafood) at Tg. Lumpur, Satay Zul just 5 km from Hyatt and even the food court (very cheap) also abt 5 km from Hyatt just behind Satay Zul.

During our trip to Kuantan, we went to shop at Berjaya Mall which is located at the city centre. We also went to Teluk Cempelak, Lake Chini, Cherating and even drove up to Chukai, the border of Trengganu. We enjoyed ourselves very much at Lake Chini and Cherating beach.

Took a drive along the coast up to Chendol. Senic route, very peaceful and slow pace of life there. Good place to go and relax / de-stress.

Kuantan is not as sleepy as I was made to believe reading some of the other reviews. Its a well planned town (compared to other Malaysian town I have been to). Visited the Telok Chempedak beach (15 mins drive from city centre). Popular with the locals. Excellent and very cheap seafood at Restaurant Pattaya. While the Beach Bar at the Hyatt ofers some tipsies if you like.

Our visit to Kuantan was as a stop-over on the way from Mersing to Taman Negara. It was a convenient stop and is a hub for long distance buses all over Malaysia. Very beautiful city at night with colorful light displays.

Come early to be able to park in the basement parking, if not, cars will have to be parked outside.

Not a city to spend any length of time in.Also taxi cabs were very expensive, about treble what one would pay in Kuala Lumpur, and if it rains they want even double that.

We visited Kuantan town, spent time shopping in the city shopping complex. We were surprised that it has a wide range of interesting items like cothing, T-shirts and bags.

A short drive took us to a waterfall some 18 km away. The water was delightfully cold, a good respite from the hot weather that embraced us in our 3 days in Kuantuan. We dumped the kids into the water together with the locals there, and they had great fun sitting under the waterfall.

Going on to eating, the Bistro restaurant in Hyatt was good especially its spread of hot stone steak and wine. The seafood restaurant on the opposite side of the road was really good as well and definitely a lighter load on the wallet.

The hotel is easy to locate as it is situated in the main road of Kuantan. Easy to reach Teluk Chempedak and a good place for an overnight stay before moving-on to other destinations the next morning.

The mosque in the city is really beutiful at night and the night bazzar near the mosque seems exotic.

During our 3 day, 2 night stay, we managed to cover Telok Cempedak (RM6 by taxi) and even a mini trek and the food was yummy. We also covered the area around the river, which is near the local bus station. We also visited most of the shopping centres like Parkson, Teruntum and Kuantan Mall. Last but not least, we covered Cherating (A MUST), the sea's LOVELY, the scenery panoramic, and the food is abundant and cheap.
