Newcastle is a quiet town with some excellent beaches. Lake Macquarie to the south is a beautiful spot, with great boating and watersports facilities.

I wouldnt be very helpful as I am a former resident of Newcastle. However, the ocen view rooms have spectacular views right down the souther coastline and it is directly opposite one of Newcastle''s best beaches - also a short stroll to some great cafes.
