Top Phan Thiet Hotels
Phan Thiet, a 4-hour bus journey from Ho Chi Minh City, is a small and sleepy seaside town that has a certain quaint and colorful fishing village charm. With a population of just 200,000 people, the town is embraced by a series of undulating hills, lush greenery and a blissfully secluded dune covered coastline. Despite the onset of tourism, the fishing industry is still the main source of income for the locals and many sustain their living from the sea as fishermen or producers of "nuoc mam"- the pungent fish sauce that is so popular with the Vietnamese. The growing number of sophisticated beach resor ts seems to have had little impact on Phan Thiet's gentle pace of life - the beaches are particularly quiet and devoid of intrusive vendors. This is not somewhere you come for action but more for the laid back ambiance; the motto here is kick back and take your time. Situated 198 km east of Ho Chi Minh City, Phan Thiet is a refuge for many folks who come for the weekend to exchange the tension of the noisy traffic and trade of the city with the comforts of a hotel room right on the beach and a hearty appetite of succulent seafood. No doubt as Vietnam develops, so will Phan Thiet.

Phan Thiet Travellers Tales
Phan Tiet/Mui Ne is a lovely spot along the Southern cost of Viet Nam. The beaches are very much on par with those of Nha Trang. One serious disadvantage as compared to the latter is the lack of an airport, which implies that you have to travel four hours by car from Ho Chi Minh City - on a road packed with suicidal truck and bus drivers - to get there. It is also difficult to move around in the area due to the lack of sufficient local transport (taxi). A very nice restaurant is the beach-front one of Coco Beach Village. Don''t miss the barbecue and the sunsets here.
Best Restaurants around are Luna del Automme ( itlaien food ) and the Beach restaurant of the Coco Beach hotel! Good service and great food and drinks.
Mui Ne beach is not worth the fame: although very long, is not very good for swimming due to the fact that the water is shallow for a hundred meters and you have rather annoying waves. It seems to be good for wind and kite surfing. The dunes nearby are attractive.
Disappointing area. guides suggest a haven away from hcmc but in fact sea rough and not suitable for swimming and there''s really nothing there; just a busy road with a few very ordinary cafes. Others seemed to share these views and were moving on earlier than they expected. Also journey from hcmc (by coach) tedious and not scenic. We took 4 hrs to get there; the return to hcmc took 5! Also rained a lot and then there really is nothing to do.
Visit Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. It was raining in Hanoi and a hurricane had passed so bad weather, no sight-seeing. In Ho Chi Minh, the weather was better and in contrast to Hanoi HCMC is pretty busy. Nice to stay for a day or so.
We used limousine services. Phan Thiet is worth one visit, not two. Next door to the hotel we enjoyed the restaurant, Good Morning Vietnam.
I just rented a scooter and rode around and explored by myself. I speak the language that''s way I did not pay for a tour guide.
Still a very calm area, tours to sand dunes and canyon are interesting (from Muine resort across the street is an intenet cafe which offers jeep tours). In some places a little "smelly" from nuoc mam production.
Our first visit to Vietnam. It is a very promising place for tourism. So I admire and encourage Victoria hotels. But again, do not allow for weak Vietnamese food choice/quality ....It is out of balance with overall quality.
