Singapore Hotel Reviews
Recommend Gandhi Restaurant in Little India, just around the corner from MRT Little India. Great food, served on banana leaf.
Plenty of eateries off North Bridge Road (City Hall MRT) - towards the direction of Middle Road. Try the soup restaurant on Seah Street, famous for their delicious "Samsui" chicken served with lettuce and special ginger sauce. Pub/Restaurants on Leang Siah street serves western sytle set meals at good value.
Good location. Kopitiam (food court) and 7 eleven just across the road. Orchard road and Parco Bugis Junction just within walking distance. No busy traffic like you find in Orchard road or China Town.
Because of the hotels very central position in downtown Singapore it is a must. You can easy go Orchard Road, Raffles and the Boat and Clarke Quay areas, as it lies with walking distance. And as all these wonderful areas are filled with shopping malls, if you don''t know how else to fill our your time, then Hotel Rendevouz is the place to stay.
My first time in Singapore. Good location, only short taxi ride to Orchard Road and a few MRT stops from Clarkes Quay area and Raffles Hotel. Recommend the Maxwell hawker centre 800 yards from hotel for authentic food and a glimse of Singapore life! So cheap as well. Try the Burkit Timar nature reserve if you are quite fit-lowland rainforest in the heart of Singapore. Only there 3 days could have spent longer. Clean well run safe are words that describe the country.
Most memorable experiences in Singapore were definitely the animatronics in what was the WW2 Far East Command Centre, and the new Asian Civilizations Museum. The latter is huge and truly beautiful. Also memorable was going home with a case of Salmonella. Watch what you eat!
Lau Pasat excellent value and nice to eat sea food with locals. The Zoo is worth a good day out and the shopping is a must favouate mall is Suntec City next to the Oriental. Sentosa Island is begining to look a little tired and could do with a bit of investment. The City Tour bus from Suntec City offer a good orientation tour for a few dollars. Cabs are extremely cheap.
Singapore is a great example of colonialism gone right. People were really nice and friendly. Clean and orderly, Singaporeans pride themselves of their country. World-class shopping is almost obscene in its abundance-ditto for places to eat and drink. Gay scene was refreshingly non-uptight, and the guys were handsome and professional and very friendly. (I met a wonderful guy there who might just be ''the one''.) Museums are nice-particularly the Asian Civilizations near the Victoria Theater and the Fullerton Hotel. (Stop at the Fullerton for a drink.) Take a boat ride round the harbor and through the city that can be caught by ''Hooters'' restaurant on the waterfront (Hooters was a nice place to have a drink and some appetizers while waiting for the boat-the waitress was really nice). Orchard Road has more shopping and is similar to Madison Avenue in NYC. The zoo is not so great, but I hear the Night Safari is the ticket to take. The subway is really easy and is the way to get around the city. The Esplanade is a nice, waterfront place to go have a meal. Chinatown is great too, but beware of local (mostly Indian) tailors who will rip you off. With so many places to eat, just pick one and chances are it will be great. Little India was a dissapointment but the people were very friendly and lovely.
We used the MRT everywhere - apart from when completely exhausted, then the taxis were cheap and friendly. We visited everything there was to see. The temples were peaceful, beautiful, and tourist free - it was like another world. Singapore is the cleanest place on earth - even the public toilets in Chinatown were spotless. Recommend eating in the restaurants in Chinatown - food was terrific. Even eating from street vendors was safe and clean. Singapore people very friendly and go out of their way to help. The Japanese buffet at Suntec City is not to be missed. Also the bumboat tour from Clarke Quay was good (ALTHOUGH A BIT HARD ON THE BUM).
This hotel has a great location. You can reach a lot of places just by walking...like Raffles City, Clarke and Boat Quay, Suntec has a free shuttle bus that stops by the City Hall MRT station which is only 1 block away. Orchard Road is only 3 stations away. If you''re really into shopping then there are a whole bunch of shops right around the hotel and FUNAN IT Mall is right behind the hotel. The Merlion is a bit far but still reachable by walking if you''re not in a hurry. I even got to the hotel from the airport by taking the MRT and it only cost me $1.40.
The Brazil Restaurant on 6th Ave. is worth the time to visit. The food is good but a bit pricy.
The night safari is a must see. Don''t bother with the tour for this one - just take a taxi and pay entrance fee at the gate. There will be taxi''s there when you leave - at least if you don''t wait until the last minute. Sentosa Island was OK but nothing really special. The laser show at the end was nice to watch but very crowded - get there early if you want a good seat (we ended up standing so as not to have to go to the far corners). The citi-tour is worthwhile to get some background on Singapore and to see some of the sights.
recommend taking ez-link card from smrt on arrival at changi airport mrt terminal itself for $15 which will cut down travel costs drastically. Broadway Hotel''s proximity to Mustafa Shopping Centre,Little India, MRT stations Farrer Park & Little india, proximity to Sim Lim Square etc are great..! Must see places: Chinatown,Science Centre,OMNIMax Theatre,Night Safari,Mustafa Shopping Centre.
Singapore stuck me, a native New Yorker, as the most Americanized looking city in SE Asia. The shopping however was only so-so, as I can get better buys at Macy''s and other NY retailers on sale days. The Hilton Hotel across the street had a great dinner buffet. There were enjoyable city tour busses offering the hop on/hop off opportunity.
Singapore is a very beautiful city. Sentosa Island specially is place worth going to. Dolphin show was amazing. The musical fountain and the laser show was breathtaking. We had also been to Night Safari and Jurong Bird Park. It is very easy to reach places at Singapore. The maps and directions are very clear. One does not need any help. MRT network covers the complete place. We generally use to take MRT and then bus if required to reach the destination. We regret that we could not see the mucical fountain (Fountain of wealth) as it was closed for maintenance during that period. We would always cherish the memories of our Singapore Trip. it no wonder is a great place to visit.
I was fortunate to have a good local friend to show me around. I must say 3 to 4 days in singapore is more than enough. I practically saw most singapore in 3 days. But a few places that most should not miss out when they''re in Singapore are 1) the night safari 2) drinks at boat quay or clarke quay 3) a visit to the merlion statue 4) a stroll down orchard road if shopping is your thing - (try to avoid to have the singapore sling at raffles hotel, most other local bars offer that drink if you really want to try it) Be safe and have fun all!!
Location is ideal. Great World City shopping centre just across the road. The ''clubbing'' night life is just across the river, 5 minutes walk. Be it city or river view the view from your room is fantastic. Cafe Brios serves a wonderful buffet. But it was the top-notch service from all hotel staff front-line & back office that was the most relaxing part of our stay.
The hotel is right in Chinatown and the hawker stands. The MRT station was a 10 minute walk. To walk to the river with its bars and restaurants about 15 minutes. Taxis are cheap, as is the MRT: get an ez-link card that covers the cost of the MRT and the bus. The credit on the card is valid for 7 years and is transferable!
I mostly went for walks in Joo Chiat Street and adjoining areas. This is the area of Singapore with the most traditional feel, owing to the mixture of renovated shophouses and open-air hawker centers, small restaurants, stores, and karaoke places. Prices are about 20% lower than at Boat Quay or Orchard Road, and most people in the area are locals. Highly recommended.
Great location! the coffee shop at the coner has the bast Kaya bread and coffee also the great laksa as well.
