asia-hotels.com launches Asian hotels consumer awards

Hong Kong, 5 Nov 2001 - The independent traveller website asia-hotels.com
launched its Asian hotel awards program. Launched in association
with Northwest Airlines, the awards scheme allows for asia-hotels.com
users to vote for their favourite hotels in the Asia Pacific.
"We pride ourselves on offering independent travel information,"
commented Jon Stonham, CEO of asia-hotels.com. "Over 15,000
people a day turn to our website to get real opinions, i.e. customer
opinions, on hotels. The awards scheme is intended to help identify
those hotels which continually meet with customers approval and
then promote them."
Northwest Airlines is pleased to be supporting the launch of the
asia-hotels.com awards program. asia-hotels.com provides one of
the most comprehensive sites for customer insight into hotel accommodation
in Asia, said Ray Nishihira, Director of Marketing, Asia.
Launched in 1997, asia-hotels.com is one of Asia's most successful
hotel web sites. It offers independent and customer reviews on its
Internet hotel reservation system to help customers select and book
a hotel. The site features over 30,000 comments from customers on
nearly 2500 hotels and destinations across Asia and books over 300,000
rooms a year. In addition, asia-hotels.com inspects and reviews
at least 500 hotels each year on cleanliness, facilities, staff
attitude, value for money and star rating. In some cases (subject
to guest permissions), users can even email a previous guest direct
to ask more about a particular hotel or destination.
Users who vote,
will get a chance to win two Round-the-World Business-Class tickets
from Northwest Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. Other prizes
include hundreds of guidebooks from Lonely Planet and Insight Guides.
Voting will close on 31 Jan 2002 and the winners announced in February.
