Beach vote: Independent travel Web site www.asiahotels.com, in association with seven top resorts in Asia and scmp.com, has launched a search for the region's best beaches.

Whitehaven in the Whitsundays, Australia, is the top pick from the asia-hotels.com editors. The Maldives is their second pick followed by White Beach on Boracay in the Philippines. But users who vote for their favourite beach in the Asia-Pacific through the Web site, automatically get a chance to win complementary nights in the Datai, Tanjung Rhu Resort and Pelangi Beach Resort in Langkawi, Malaysia.

Other prizes include free stays in Pangkor Laut Resort in Malaysia, Fridays Beach Resort in Boracay, the Tanjong Jara Resort in East Malaysia, and Mutiara Beach Resort in Penang.
