A good value-for-money hotel in a great location. While rooms are large and the 'original' floor boards have been retained, it is time for the floors to be upgraded (for health and safety) and some furniture should be replaced. Staff assistance in the main lobby area was very good. Room service was not so good. A good range of food was provided at breakfast but the 'hot' food was often too cold to enjoy. Other food areas for lunch/dinner etc were very disappointing.

If you want to stay in a hotel with a huge amount of history the Astor House is perfect. It is an amazing building and rooms have been renovated but have kept their old world character. I stayed in the Executive Rooms which are a bit more expensive but a very good size. The only downside would be that if you are worried about noise you can hear the people on the floor above moving around as the hotel has wooden floors. Also there wasn't wifi in the room, had to go into the executive lounge to use it which was a bit of a pain. The location is ideal, being just across the creek from the Bund. While the rooms have been renovated they still seemed a bit grubby, but probably no worse than most hotels. I would recommend staying at the Astor House.

It's an historic building age 160 years !!. The corridor is smelly but the rooms are all clean. bathroom is nice n modern. It is an old English hotel but didn't serve English afternoon tea or breakfast. Location is superb as it's right next to Bund and near Nanking Road.

Overpriced for quality offered. TV sound from next door room a problem - walls must be thin or TV loud. Creaky, and a bit awkward. Location the key.
