I booked my reservation at the very last minute - a couple of hours before check in on a Saturday. This caused delays in my check in and several miscommunications with the housekeeping department. At first I was put in a room with a king size bed, after I specifically requested a double. When I brought this to the attention of the supervisor, I was told that it all depends on availability. Soon after the supervisor did place us in a room with two beds. The next day I extended my stay and the message was not conveyed to the rooms department division. Therefore, I had several knocks on the door asking when we would be departing, when they could clean the room etc.. Overall, I have always liked Barcelo Riviera Maya, but compared to previous visits, I felt that the level of service had dropped significantly. The front desk and wait staff were not as friendly or efficient as before ( I have stayed at Barcelo Riviera Maya at least 4 times before).
