City Hotel Shanghai Reviews

After a few hi-hups (the reservation was not found when we arrived), we finally got our room (20th floor, non-smoking as requested). It think they were bugs in the carpets (got bitten all over the legs during the night) and cockroaches in the lobby toilets. Very unfriendly and unresponsive staff (especially at check-in and check-out times). Do not expect any of them to speak even remotely good English. No non-smoking separation in the restaurants, each room has only one breakfast regardless of how many guests registered (first time I see this) and the breakfast is nothing special. No air evacuation in the bathroom (seems to be an old room updated to a new style by applying a new layer of decoration). Location however (French Concession, out of Nanjing Road frenzy) was a welcome benefit.

The hotel was fairly average by most standards. Dont waste time using the 2 different 'Do not disturb' signs....theyre ignored, so lock up your bags! Very little, if any english spoken or understood.

The hotel is nice, but the service is below average.

In general, City hotel is quite clean and varieties of breakfast. I'll say except for the noisy sound from my next door at midnight, everything is great.

the view was beautyfull the room was soo good. love it
