As I travelled alone, I was well received at Rhino; the location is no 1 if you travel by bus; the personnel at the counter seem a little distant and the information about the bus ticket for 2 days was not avalaible, contrary to the information passed at the touristic information center.
Overall, a very nice stay, with the spa made avalaible for clients.

Staff very friendly and helpful, rooms were very clean and big for Japanese size, location was great for us as just around the corner from subway station, also only $12 from main Kyoto JR station to Hotel, Free breakfast was good, offering both western and asian meals.
Lots of great places to eat within walking distance, swimming pool costs extra, We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone....

It was a little hard to find (from kyoto station), but once you are there it is an OK location, close to lots of temples, resturants supermarket etc.
It is a little old looking now, but still good for the cheap price.
Watch out for the elevator doors, there is no sensors in them!!
