Shenzhen Hotel Reviews
Was only in Shenzhen for a brief meeting. Did not do too much traveling or sightseeing. Taxis were readily available and economical. If entering PRC from HK via Lo Wu, leave LOTS of time for passport control and customs.
Advise guests who have made reservations with this hotel that FREE HONG KONG CITYBUS transport is available from Hong Kong to the hotel.
Shenzhen is a fast-growing city (nearly 4 million people) with many excellent business opportunities. Restaurants, shopping, etc. are within walking distance of the hotel. Shuttle buses take visitors out to the city's major attractions. Good ferry services to Zhuhai, Macau, and Hong Kong.
I visited Splendid China which was fun. The rest was business.
Take advantage of courtesy shuttle if traveling via KCR railway. If you desire shopping on the cheap, go to to Dongmen. Taxis are readily available to take you there.
The hotel is located very near the Lo Wu border train station and is ideal for travel in the area immediatly north of Hong Kong (Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and beyond). The staff at reception can arrange your travel plans within the surrounding area.
China fork culture village is a very nice place.
Food in hotel is good. But I would recommend to go outside for a better bargain.
Since I do speak Mandarin, and Shenzhen is actually rather small unless you want to visit the outskirts (not recommended as it may not be very safe). I visited the general tourist areas and just took a taxi wherever I wanted to go (note that the starting fare after 11pm is 16 RMB instead of the usual 12 RMB - I think)...
Taking local buses from the main bus terminal. I went to the zoo and the attraction parks by bus. Joining the 1-day tour must be a good idea, I guess. Shopping!! In front of the railway terminal, there is a large shopping center and you can find many souvenirs or try any Chinese foods. When you arrive from Hong Kong, the atomosphere in Shenzhen seems dangerous. It is an ordinary Chinese big city (I am sure) and keep yourself safe, e.g. don't bring much money with you, don't wear too luxurious clothes and jewels or walk as fast as people do.
