Guest commentsA very nice and traditional hotel in the heart of Shanghai. Good value for money. Very large rooms and a nice breakfast.

Guest commentsThe location would be great and very near the Bund except that there is no easy way to walk to there or Nanjing Road area. It was very difficult to get a cab in front of the hotel at certain times of the day. The hotel decor and ambience is very unique and fun.

Guest commentsExecutive rooms are spacious and very well equipped. Free internet, complimentary water, fax, ironing board. Lovely, luxurious bath with seperated tub and shower. Some of the deluxe rooms are huge, and give very good value for money. Good location with regard to the Bund, 3 minutes by taxi. But a bit away from other locations, although easily reached by cab in 10 minutes. Interesting history told by pictures and other information on the walls. This is where an electric light first was turned on in China! If you are interested in Shanghais history over the past 150 years, this is definitely the place to stay! Good value for the money, too. Interesting

Guest commentsfor anyone interested in the old colonial buildings on the Bund this is the ideal location as the Bund is within easy walking distance. The Astor House Hotel is the oldest western hotel in China and retains the charm and style of the grand hotels of the past. The breakfast in the main ballroom must not be missed. The rooms are spacious with modern bathrooms. Service is excellent.I loved the hotel.

Guest commentsLovely hotel with character. We chose this hotel as a change from the typically modern chain hotels. The room was enormous and the breakfast excellent. It was easy to get a taxi from outside the hotel to see all the sights. I would recommend this hotel highly and great value for money

Guest commentsIt might not be the most luxurious hotel any longer but the atmosphere is amazing, and as soon as the pedestrian bridge is in working function again, you cannot beat the location at the beginning of the Bund.

Guest commentsRoom was very good but with a baby cot it is a little small and I would recommend going for the more expensive Executive room which is 40 square metres. Hotel staff very obliging and breakfast was good. Room is a good size but because of furniture (desk, couch, king size bed) when adding a cot, there's not a lot of space left!

Guest commentsThis is a wonderful historic hotel. We were staying on the executive floor which would be unsuitable for people who can not climb stairs as that is the only way we saw to get there. Our room was massive and we were entilted to free breakfast and coffee in the executive room, although the staff were not always happy to get the coffee for you. It is a near walk to the bund, and bell boys are always happy to get taxis for you for longer trips. We would happily stay at this hotel again and recommend the executive floor for people capable of stairs.

Guest commentsThis Hotel is an old style palace in a historical building. The service is perfect. I had a very spacious suite with a computer and free internet. The breakfast is very good with a lot of different style of food. The only bad point is that the bridge that leads to the bunds is in reparation so I had to take a cab to cross the river every day, otherwise it takes 2 min to go to the bund. But the hotel have a free shuttle to go there starting 8 in the morning. I recommend this hotel when the bridge will be repaired.
