Best places in HK: Cheung Sha Lower beach at Lantau (ferry to Mui Wo, then bus to beach - past Pui O town, past fire station, but if you hit a long stretch of pristine beach you've gone a little too far - just walk back - a path over the hill with the temple look-out takes you back to Cheung Sha Lower. Try the Stoep restaurant. Take swim suits and prepare for nice relaxing day.

Recommend the Jade Market bargain hunting, local wet markets, Star Ferry. Get a Junk with friends and go for some local seafood in Lamma -- scary but fun.

A11 bus from airport, Purchase octopus card at airport info and cash it in when you leave. Seniors get a very good discount on this card on all travel, trains, buses, trams and Star ferry.
Good info from the Hong Kong tourist bureau in Sydney and in HK. That's all you need. Then select your activity. Recommend the tour to the New Territories, trip to Macau (don't have to do this as a tour, take yourself). The self-guided walks great, and the museum terrific.

Hotel staff thought we were mad wanting to walk from the Wharney to the Peak Tram - turns out it's a 30 minute stroll mostly through a park - recommended!

We took the Hong Kong harbor boat tour, and went to Victoria Peak on our own. I could spend days at Victoria Peak; there's so much there. We loved the high speed train.

Taxi is very cheap and travel distances are very short. Worth taking a trip with the boat over to the island. And if you are really in to some action try the Heliride around Hong Kong, if the weather allows it. Also try the tram to the Peak.

Hong Kong is a great city because it is so diverse...you can see very traditional, old style ways of life, or experience modern, fast-paced life just across the street. Hong Kong has great dining, and at very good prices.
Public transportation in Hong Kong, although quite crowded at times, was very fast and efficient. This was my second visit to Hong Kong. I hadn`t visited Victoria Peak the first time, but I did on this past visit. I would have to say that this is a MUST for any trip to Hong Kong! Go at night for an amazing dinner with an amazing view!

The Dolphin watch is a must, pink dolphins? They are beautiful. Shopping in Macau is also great, 24k gold bracelets and rings cheaper than the Middle east hotspots (famed for their cheap high quality gold).
