Taking the Peak Tram to Victoria Peak is a must for all visitors to Hong Kong. Taxis are fairly cheep, so no problems getting around.

For restaurants, there is an all HKG10.00 noodles with special vegetables with oyster sauce at the street of Woo Sung. I would recommend the DS1 city tour which included the peak tram ride, market, and others.

I took a Gray Line half-day tour. It was just ok. Delifrance had a nice salmon sandwich for a reasonable price.

Hong Kong was an amazing place, easy to get around, everyone was nice and helpful. Coffee shops with free internet. I set out late at night and was walking around Central, (Hong Kong Island) and felt very safe being a female and by myself. Shopping, of course is excellent, just wish I had more time. I didn't take tours, just read up on it and had my own agenda. A little pricey compared to other places I had just visited, but worth every penny.

Centrally based in Wanchai, close to the MRT subway, and a ten minute walk to Pacific Place, one of the biggest shopping malls in Hong Kong. Many bars and restaurants nearby (happy hour until 9pm!).
I would recommend the tram ride up to Peak Place, the highest point overlooking Hong Kong, and also a short ferry over to Kowloon, from which you get the maritime view of the city.

We visited all the main tourist sites and attractions by using public transport. Not only is it cheaper to travel that way but you get to see the sights and sounds of the real Hong Kong, meet its people in everyday situation and appreciate what life is like there. Not just the tourist bits. We especially enjoyed visiting the islands using the ferries.

Hong Kong is great! I am especially fond of the outer islands such as Chueng Chau and Lamma. The Peak is great too, but very touristy, however if it is a nice day there is a walking trail circling the peak, it takes about an hour but is very worth it. One side offers stunning city concrete jungle views and the other side offers a unique sea, jungle, mountain view.

Hong Kong is great. Try all the basic tourist points of interest but also try to get out to some of the outlying islands. Also if you like nature there are many hiking trails originating in the city areas and in more rural islands such as the other islands and New Territories. The tourist office can help you find good trails.

1) walk along the pier at night next to the space museum...especially when the night is warm...look at across the harbor...the view speaks for itself...
2) take the tram from one end to the other- sit on the top front...
3) take in the view from the Peak...
4) ride back and forth on the Ferry...
5) eat where the locals eat...great food and cheap.

Hong Kong is a very interesting place. I went on the 1/2 day Hong Kong highlights, the evening tour including dinner on the Jumbo floating restaurant (good, even if a little touristy) and the 1/2 day 'Land Between' tour into the New Territories. Booked all tours through the tour desk at the hotel, who were very helpful.
