Nha Trang is now an up and coming beach resort. It used to be a haven for the Vietnamese, back packers and divers but now it seems to be forging ahead to try to attract a more upmarket tourist. More and more 4 and 5 star hotels are being built. The bars and restaurants are becoming more sophisticated, catering for the "western" taste and the new ones now have air conditioning (In 2004 there were no air conditioned bars or restaurants). Food, drink and taxis are cheap.
The Sailing Club is a nice place to go for a meal or a drink. It is situated on the beach and you can over look the sea as you dine.
I could not fault any of the restaurants or bars i visited in Nha Trang and always found the staff very friendly.

Nha Trang is great, beach is lovely, you do get hassled a bit on the beach but par for the course really. Once the "vendors" get to know you and you've bought a couple of necklaces they tend to leave you alone. Some good bars and restaurants, not manic night-life but lively enough if you want it. Definitely worth a visit if you have time.

The beach didn't look very enticing and after a single 10 minute swim in the violent surf breaks, my original assumption of the beach was very well validated. The hot springs about 2 km north of Nha Trang was very relaxing and great value for money, the mud baths were so well enjoyed I went back there for a second time.
As expected, Nha Trang is essentially a party town, a Mama Han Green Hat boat tour was very well enjoyed and every night of our stay in Nha Trang was spent at the Crazy Kim's bar and the Nha Trang Sailing Club partying with other travelers till the 'wee' hours of the morning.

Small town with not much to do, a good destination to relax and lie on the beach.

The ocean is beautiful. However the water is very rough close to shore, making it difficult at times to stand up. The wind blows hard and even though the sun was shining, it wasn't comfortable for more than a couple of hours at most. You may end up using the hotel pool more than you thought
The tour arranged by our hotel with Action and Adventure was good in large part because of our excellent guide. The snorkeling equipment was not very good and neither was the snorkeling at Moon Island. The aquarium was an interesting design and it was fun to see the fish.

Nha Trang is clean and really quite a nice destination, particularly if you are a "lie on the beach" type.
