The hotel is centrally located to all the major sights in Saigon. I enjoyed the Botto Bar on the 7th floor - nice view of the city and very friendly bar staff, although the bar was nearly empty.

Nha Trang is clean and really quite a nice destination, particularly if you are a "lie on the beach" type.

Very hot and noisy after long journey, but fascinating all the same. If you appreciate that sort of thing, don't miss the Water Puppet Theater (marionettes) - we thought it pure magic.

Hanoi is a very special city, which at least westerners must think is exotic. Just compare to other major southeast asian cities, Saigon or Bangkok, or whatever, they become "westernised" and therefore more ordinary. Special features are at least much harder to find there.
Visit the Cat Ba islands it's great.
Handspan is a good travel agency for that
Water puppet show is a must but read the story behind the show first

Much enjoyed Hanoi.
Did a city tour which the hotel arranged. Was US$12 per adult (half price for children). Was good value. By the time all the sites would have been reached and entrances paid (plus lunch was included)I doubt it would have been done much cheaper. The Water Puppets are a must. Best restaurant visited was Dinh Lang restarant overlooking Hoan Kiem Lake - about 5min walk from the hotel. Also did tours from Hanoi to Halong Bay and Sapa with Handspan Travel (based in Hanoi). They were excellent.

Stayed at Caravelle Hotel - Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam.
|
Didn't have much time in HCMC so just visited the War Museum and had dinner at the Lemongrass restaurant which is just around the corner from the Caravelle and also at the Caravelle which was excellent! The Saigon Saigon bar on the 10th floor of the Caravelle is wonderful for evening drinks.
Great shopping on Le Thanh Ton Street and Dong Du.

I visited the Perfume Pagoda. The river ride on the sampans was exquisite. I really felt like I had been transported back in time. The hotel once again arranged for a driver and tour guide. Both excellent and reliable. I used to walk to the Hoan Khiem lake, which was about 15 minutes away. Once I got my bearings, it was easy. Also went to see the water puppet show which was terrific - young and old alike.
