Stayed at Pousada de Sao Tiago - Macau, Macau.

Could not get a table at L Orcha restaurant, but found the Restaurant Littoral just along the way very good indeed.
Most of our time was spent doing very little and the Pousada is just the place to do it - no distractions!

The sight-seeing in Macau is very easy as there really isn't that much. We did the main areas on foot from the hotel in about 4 hours! even in 30 degree heat. The views at the top of the hills are worth doing though. The cable car did save our legs a fairly nasty hike up to the lighthouse. The bridges linking Macau and Taipa are a 'must drive over that' event.
Everyone had recommended Fernando's restuarant and so we made the trip. We went over by taxi, which is quite a distance from the central area and cost about $65HK. On the drive we thought it would actually be better if anyone were staying in Macau for some days that to stay in town for a couple of nights and then transfer to Coloane would be best, as at least the scenery is nice. Fernando's lived up to all the hype and delivered a mountain of garlic prawns, delicious salad and chicken. It is well to note that you may get bitten there though, so be prepared with the repellant. We had no trouble getting a taxi back, although we went the scenic route and it cost $90, we did get to go over the other bridge!
At the time we were in Macau the firework festival was on. We had an excellent view from our hotel room and were not disappointed by the displays.
We had actually gone to Macau to gamble a bit and were, therefore, disappointed. The other casinos were pretty much the same as the Lisboa, but without so many people. It may be worth mentioning that some of them will not let you in without your passport for ID.
We did have some fun in Macau and it was worth going to if only to know not to go back there!

Buses in Macau are excellent. Take them from Avenua Henrique D.Infante near Hotel Lisboa to all destinations, including Taipa and Coloane Islands. Visitors must try the famous egg tarts from the Lord Stow Bakery in Coloane Town Hall.
For restaurants, Pinocchio and Panda on Taipa are excellent for Portuguese/Macanese fare, while Safari restaurant in Central Macau (across the road from the main town square) is great value.

Macau! Great for a weekend, and I suppose boring for the whole week. Lot's of places to see, especially a few very beautiful Gardens (Jardim), a Cable Car to the Light House, and of course Casinos and everything on 2 sq. km. When in the City Centre, try go get to Safari restaurant. Although it may sound funny, Africa in Macau, but the food is really OK, traditional Macau food and the service pretty nice.

centrally located, make sure to go to Fernando's for a meal. we ended up taking taxis everywhere since it was too far and confusing otherwise. very hot in August. Not the most impressive place in terms of vistas, compared with other placed we visited, but still very nice and charming in its own right.

Went to "Fernandos" which is right on the beach. The atmoshere is very casual, and the Portuguese food is outstanding. A great value for your money. Don't forget to try some wine from their large selection.

Fernando's on Calawan (sp.) and O Minell's on Taipa are two of the top places for good Portuguese grub.

Sorry HK but your coffee is not the best - so finding a nice coffee has been high on the list of priorities! The little newstand/cafe (green wrought iron chairs & umbrellas) on the right as you enter the main square, has beautiful coffee - definitely worth the stop.

Fernando's seafood restaurant is excellent and the Westin runs a minibus service to it - although it's not free, you have to pay $30.
Make sure you get into the town to explore - don't just stay around the Westin or you won't experience the "real" Macau!
