T Granger 09 March 2003
Stayed at  Holiday Inn Macau - Macau, Macau.
A'Lorcha for dinner was good value - clams are fantastic but stay away from the veal eye fillet. Cafe Toscana off the main square was great for a quick and healthy panini lunch.

Stayed at  Westin Resort Macau - Macau, Macau.
Restaurants - Fernando's at Hac Sa Beach - a walk along the beach from the hotel. A Lorche close to the A Ma Temple is good as well as the Pizzeria Toscana at the ferry pier - a good place for lunch before heading back to Hong Kong. The Macau Museum and the Maritime Museum are both worth a visit. A very busy time of year - Chinese New Year.

Portuguese food at Solmar (spelling?) was fabulous and reasonably priced.

Many tourists only visit Macau peninsula, but Taipa island is valuable to visit. The landscape of old houses are beautiful and exotic. And there were many Portugese restaurants cheeper than Macau.

Stayed at  Metropole Hotel Macau - Macau, Macau.
The hotel is located at the very convenient place for sightseeing. I can recommend to my friends this hotel depend on the room. Anyway the price is attractive. My favorite place in Macao are Guia lighthouse and Maritime Museum. The junkboat trip from that Museum was very fun. Rua do Cunha (for meal) and House Museum of Taipa Island are also good.

Korean restaurant. It is located between Kingsway hotel and Lisboa hotel.

Stayed at  Sintra Hotel - Macau, Macau.
We do not go to Macau to gamble. Perhaps not known to many, Macau has some great food on offer and is true value for money. We always make it a point to have a relaxed dinner at the Club Militar de Macau's excellent Portugese restaurant, which is open to non-members. For variety, try the chicken dish with the coffee flavoured gravy (I can't remember the name of the dish). If you are courteous, they may even allow you to have a drink or two at the members only bar, which we recommend for its colonial charm and old-world grace.

L Bachman 17 December 2002
Stayed at  Pousada de Sao Tiago - Macau, Macau.
Not to be missed: Fernando's authentic Macanese food on the Island of Coloane.

I was looking for a Portuguese restaurant and was fortunate to have a simple but very tasty meal with great service at Porto Exterior.

Stayed at  Pousada de Mong-Ha - Macau, Macau.
We were in Macau for a one-night visit so we hardly saw anything much, but enough to persuade us to return soon. We had a good lunch time meal in the restaurant 'Latina' (or some such name), and then walked up to the old fortress housing the museum of Macau. Well worth the walk - don't be lazy and take the escalator! We then spent time searching for furniture in the Rua de Sao Paulo - really good range of antiques to see.

Evening meal in Carlos's restaurant (NAPE) was also good. Next morning was so cold and wet we only ventured as far as the Grand Premio museum, which at $10 was good value. I hope they plan to make it more interactive in the future, since it is rather full of static exhibits. The simulators were out of order. Macau is a fascinating place, still human in scale, so it makes for a welcome change of atmosphere to Hong Kong which has abandoned all its yesterdays as if there are no tomorrows.
