Easy 45-minute drive from Kuching. But immediate local area not fully utilised or tied in. Eg rainforest resort, Pasir Pandak, though Buntal for seafood was very good.

Used Borneo Fairyland tour company to visit Iban Longhouse, 3 days and 2 nights. We hate organised trips but this is the only way to see a longhouse, as you must have a guide, they were exellent!! No cattle market, personal service and very real experience, only the two of us on a guided jungle trek, with lunch in bamboo!!!!
Recommended place to eat in Kuching is the 24 hour cafe opposite the Crowne Plaza (don't go to the C. Plaza!)

To travel around the resort was easy as there are free shuttle services to bring us from the Cultural Village to the Damai Lagoon Resort. However, we would prefer to see more different variety of restaurants in the vincinity eg. Japanese, Korean, Chinese etc.

Kuching is a lovely town. Such a pity about the weather! It rained for 4 days.
The Chinese vegetarian restaurant not far from the hotel was excellent. They weigh what you have on your plate-a brilliant idea.

Everything is within the walking distance from the hotel e.g. Cultural Village and waterfalls. Seafod restaurant is 10 to 15 minutes drive. The restaurant will provide complementary shuttles.
The jungle trackking is relatively easy for newcomers. But I think they should label the exotic trees so that the visitors can identify them.
There is no grocery shop around the hotel but you can us the hotel's shop (but a bit expensive and limited selection).

The cocktail in Rentap Hotel is quite lousy. The percentage of alkohol is too little that we cant even feel the taste of alkohol.
