Hong Kong has a great transportation system. Get an Octopus card at the airport when you arrive to avoid using coins for buses, MTR, KCR, ferries etc.

Take a few hours and visit Lantau to see the big Buddha. It was well worth the trip. Before I arrived in HK I was told there wasn't much to do but I disagree. If you only stick to touristy things you'll be ready to leave in 2 days or so. I went off the tourist path & wandered aimlessly through the city & ended up extending my trip. Discos, shopping, tours to the islands, the jade market, the late night markets, the food, the easy use of the subway & the cheap cost of taxis, as well as, the friendliness of the people all made this trip worthwhile.

If you stay here the Ladies market is on your doorstep - also there are inexpensive friendly Chinese restaurants along this street. The subway station is also very good and only takes about 10 minuets to get to Hong Kong Island.
Temple street market, although a little bit of a disappointment, it was amusing to wander around and "bargain". The Jade Market is worth a look, as are the food stalls and markets nearby. This area makes a very interesting stroll through the backstreets and people here tend to much more laid back and friendly.
The further down Nathan Road you get the atmosphere completely changes, the art gallery, Pennisula hotel and of course the shops are all worth a look. The area around the Star ferry terminal offers great views of Hong Kong Island - especially at night.
On Hong Kong island the main attraction is the peak, and it's worth paying that little extra to eat in one of the restaurants and watch the night view. The area Wan Chai and La Kwai Fong offer good night entertainment.

Stayed at Eaton Hotel - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.

The hotel is very central and near to transport. The courtesy bus to Kowloon station played a part in choosing the hotel. Restuarants are "Chili & Spice" & the Italian Restuarant & Super Sandwiches in the shopping mall at Shatin Station. We travelled on the MTR & KCR.

Several business trips into China and around HK. The convenience of HK mass transit was easier than taking a car.

Times Square is an excellent place to go shopping. Lan Kwai Fong is full of bars and restaurants where you can sit and watch the world go by. The MTR subway and Airport Express are very efficient and clean and well worth using if you are traveling around a lot.

Stayed at Rosedale on the Park Hotel Hong Kong - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.

Causeway Bay is good for shopping if you're that way inclined albeit very busy and with high air pollution. The Rosedale is set away from the main hustle and bustle and has an excellent French restaurant directy opposite. By taxi (easy to flag down outside) Wanchai and Central are only minutes away. Other public transport is not so convenient - however, taxis are cheap in Hong Kong.

Location is great. Just a short distance away from the buzzling Mongkok area and the famous 'Woman Street'. Also quite convenient to get there by using public transport like Airport Bus from International Airport.

Taxi is very cheap and travel distances are very short. Worth taking a trip with the boat over to the island. And if you are really in to some action try the Heliride around Hong Kong, if the weather allows it. Also try the tram to the Peak.
