It's a very pleasant walk along the beach to Fernando's.

There is no problem about the destination because the hotel provide the shuttle bus to the pier. The location of the hotel is quite OK-close to the biggest casino in Macau-Lisboa Hotel. The room size is big and comfortable but the interior is quite old. There is no hair dryer in the room-this must be improve.

Macau is easy to get around. Be careful that the cab drivers understand where you want to go, otherwise, they take you to the wrong place. Bring the name of your hotel with you. Go-Karts were especially fun!! THe Gardens were gorgeous.

Stayed at  Mandarin Oriental Macau - Macau, Macau.
Great furniture shopping in the streets around the ruins of St Pauls. Prices include delivery to Hong Kong island but found bargaining much more difficult then here in HK.

Recommendation from concierge re: child friendly restaurant very disappointing. Menu at Vela Italiana & associated restaurants adult focussed and service very poor. We should have done a much more thorough review before we went. Hotel is a $15 taxi ride from the main shopping & sightseeing area and provides a shuttle bus to & from the ferry terminal.

Macau is a fascinating mixture between the Chinese and Southern European lifestyles. It is far more laid back and less crowded than Hong Kong. There are literally thousends of scooters cruising through town. This remainded me of Italy. I recommend everybody, who travel to Honk Kong, to spend at least one night in Macau.

The sight-seeing in Macau is very easy as there really isn't that much. We did the main areas on foot from the hotel in about 4 hours! even in 30 degree heat. The views at the top of the hills are worth doing though. The cable car did save our legs a fairly nasty hike up to the lighthouse. The bridges linking Macau and Taipa are a 'must drive over that' event.

Everyone had recommended Fernando's restuarant and so we made the trip. We went over by taxi, which is quite a distance from the central area and cost about $65HK. On the drive we thought it would actually be better if anyone were staying in Macau for some days that to stay in town for a couple of nights and then transfer to Coloane would be best, as at least the scenery is nice. Fernando's lived up to all the hype and delivered a mountain of garlic prawns, delicious salad and chicken. It is well to note that you may get bitten there though, so be prepared with the repellant. We had no trouble getting a taxi back, although we went the scenic route and it cost $90, we did get to go over the other bridge!

At the time we were in Macau the firework festival was on. We had an excellent view from our hotel room and were not disappointed by the displays. We had actually gone to Macau to gamble a bit and were, therefore, disappointed. The other casinos were pretty much the same as the Lisboa, but without so many people. It may be worth mentioning that some of them will not let you in without your passport for ID. We did have some fun in Macau and it was worth going to if only to know not to go back there!

Buses in Macau are excellent. Take them from Avenua Henrique D.Infante near Hotel Lisboa to all destinations, including Taipa and Coloane Islands. Visitors must try the famous egg tarts from the Lord Stow Bakery in Coloane Town Hall. For restaurants, Pinocchio and Panda on Taipa are excellent for Portuguese/Macanese fare, while Safari restaurant in Central Macau (across the road from the main town square) is great value.

Macau has wonderful museums. We visited the Macau Museum near St. Paul's, which has great interactive displays on the place's history. Also the Maritime Museum (superb models) and the junk tour of the harbor. We took a bus to Coloane, swam at Hak Sa beach, and ate at Fernando's (high point of the trip!) I don't recommend the riding stables; there were only two horses available for short, guided rides, at high prices.

centrally located, make sure to go to Fernando's for a meal. we ended up taking taxis everywhere since it was too far and confusing otherwise. very hot in August. Not the most impressive place in terms of vistas, compared with other placed we visited, but still very nice and charming in its own right.
