The road up by Tapah is risky because of the twists and turns around hill corners (literally blind spots), so it would be safer if you reach there before nightfall (if driving). The other route, Simpang Pulai, offers very little excitement but the road is wider and safer.
Do not hasten on the strawberry farms that are listed. There are more farms further up the road that allows you to handpick the fruits, unlike those listed. The vegetable farms along the way are "magic" to city-born children but alas, there is a lack of animal farm.

Trail 10 leading to Gunung Jasar is easily accesible from Heritage Hotel. Just walk out to the main road, turn left and look for Tan Camelia's Garden. The trail starts from the back of the garden.

If you are driving to The Camerons then the new roads originating from Ipoh going up to the Cameron is definitely worth a drive. The scenic view and road condition was very beautiful and highly recommended.

I walked everywhere and the local towns and main walking trails are within easy reach. It is a pleasant walk to Tanah Rata via the riverside trail. The Hotel is in a lovely location and overlooks a golf course. I got to the Highlands by the bus from KL (18 Ringit!) and then a taxi from Tanah Rata to the hotel (5 Ringit). Local transport is plentiful should you ever need it.

The place was not too much to our expectation - I was expecting Camerons to be cool and nice - the afternoons were hot but not as bad as on the ground level temperature. My family and I pretty much explored the place with our car and we found some interesting places to see and some dissapointing ones - the Strawberry Farm was a real disappointment. The Honey bee farm was great. Shopping for fresh vegetables early in the morning was beyond our expectation and it was a real bargain. Eating out was kinda expensive in most restaurants we found but there were a couple of them with reasonable prices. A great tip - talk to the locals - they have great advice to give (with a smile) especialy on where to shop for vegetables and places to eat at a reasonable price.
The trip to Boh Tea plantation great. Though the road to the Boh Plantation and Tea house can be unnerving especially for a car driver like me with a baby onboard but the reward at the end of the trip was worth it. I especialy enjoyed having tea with muffins on the patio of the tea house overlooking the plantation.

Driving from Tapah will take at least 1 1/2 hours and the road has lots of hair pin curves. Driver needs to be alert at all times, and slow down for heavy trucks from the opposite directions as the road is very narrow at some parts. Horn if neccessary. Must go - Gunung Brinchang, Sungai Palas Estate (Boh Tea Estate), Ye Olde Smokehouse.

We travelled from Kuala Lumpur by car and the journey took approximately 3 hours. After leaving the motorway the road to the Cameron Highlands, it was very winding and very busy with heavy lorries and buses along with cars.
After booking into the hotel we went on to Tanah Rata and took a tour which took us to the summit of Gunung Brinchang, on a short jungle trek and round the Boh Tea Plantation. The guide was very knowledgeable and made it very interesting. We ate in the Lakehouse Hotel and the meal was excellent.

You must have your own car, otherwise very inconvenient. But, anyhow, cool, peaceful, silent. One of the best resort of Malaysia.

We travelled to the area by car, visiting tea plantations, strawberry farms, rose gardens and the butterfly farm. We also did two of the walks (both with waterfalls) and drove to the highest peak (unfortunately it was clouded in). We enjoyed the beauty of the Camerons very much. We used the Lonely planet guide to recommend restaurants and found it to be very accurate.. the Indian food in particular was wonderful.
