Singapore was a nice place to visit some of the best food I had in Asia, even the food courts at the mall offered excellent food. Good shopping, some interesting sites like like little India. Cruising the canals give you a good feel for the city and you can see some nice sites and you really can walk anywhere.

Easy access to Clarke Quay over the road. Short walk to Fort Canning Park but MRT at Doby Gaut about 15 mins walk. Close to some good bars and restaurants. Singapore taxis are easy to pick up and quite inexpensive. Little India, Arab Street & Chinatown all great places to visit.

The restaurants nearby are OK and reasonable in price but quality does vary. Don't be dragged into the restaurant by the street touters, (thats Singapore) look at the menu and type of food you like.
The Centrepoint food court nearby offers very cheap and fast "local" meals. $3-4 Sg.
The MRT and bus system is great and very cheap. Taxis are OK too.

Singapore is a great city! The ethnic (and food) diversity, the cleanliness, and the friendly people. The East Coast Seafood complex is a must - we ate the best crab of our life at Jumbo Seafood. The Singapore Tourist board provides many maps and other helpful information (pick these up at the airport), including walking tours of Little India, Chinatown, and Colonial Singapore.
