Using metro in Singapore is very easy. If you fly Singapore Airlines, you can jump to a Singapore airlines bus tour paying only S$3 per day but you must show your boarding pass everytime you want to buy the ticket, S$6 without boarding pass. Boarding pass to be used within 7 days. I took this Sing-airlines bus tour two days in a row because there were too many places to see/visit. You can also take a free city tour if you have sometime to kill during transit if you fly Sing-airlines. I took River tour which was fantastic. The view along the river was just breathtaking.

Stayed at Panorama Regency Hotel - Batam Island (Indonesia), Singapore.

Batam Island is full of great nightlife and places to eat. Relaxed people and way of life. Bought many DVD movies for my collection at home. Shopping is good at Lucky and Centrepoint malls which are very close to downtown Nagoya. If you want real Indonesian experience go to the Pacifico Disco. It's open late and full of people, loud music and very dark. Lots of taxis and motorcycles to take you around town.

S'pore is my next home town and visited there more than 60 times in about 20 years. Nice people and places. I always enjoy Serengoon Road and Little India area for food--Komala's, Woodlands, Ananda Bhavan, Annapoorna etc, shopping at Mustafa, Hanifa etc
I love to travel by bus and MRT nice and convenient with new line through Little India. Of course a new comer has lot to see around like Sentosa, Bird Park, Night safari, science centre etc

Stayed at Keong Saik Hotel - Singapore, Singapore.

The KS Hotel is very close to Outram Park station on the MRT - however if you take the wrong exit from the MRT you have a bit of a hike, which isn't wonderful when the sun is out and it's blazing hot. Food at food courts is very cheap, and usually rather good. Orchard Rd is very over-rated and not of much interest if you want to buy anything "Asian". Chinatown, where the KS Hotel is, is definitely a good place to stay though.

Stayed at Mana Mana Beach Club - Bintan Island (Indonesia), Singapore.

Seasports lovers not recommended during December time due to the Monsoon season. Travel round by bus to Oleh Oleh is cheap though the things there are expensive, but food is Ok with not much to choose from. Kelong at Sebong was good especially the Pepper crabs. Going round on the Buddy car on your own was nice but the rate very expensive.

Stayed at Tristar Inn Singapore - Singapore, Singapore.
|
The hotel is not far from the MRT station (if you know your direction to go). Mark your position on the street map and find your way carefully. However, the location of the hotel is not bad at all. There is a flea market / night bazzar just a few yards away. The MRT station is 10 mins walking. Th Sim Lim Square is within a couple of MRT stations.

I loved Singapore. The food was amazing, the shopping fantastic and the people were very nice. It's a place that you can probably do in a couple of days. It was very clean and organized which was a switch since I had come from Myanmar. Make sure you see Little India, Chinatown and the Malay area. When I was there they happend to have festivals happening for all of them. The mix of cultures that seem to coexist peacefully is the thing I found most delightful about Singapore. Make sure you have a meal at the Banana Leaf in Little India. Pretty rockin' curry.

Stayed at Bintan Lagoon Resort - Bintan Island (Indonesia), Singapore.
|
Bintan is a great location, as it is within easy reach of Singapore (1hr), yet resorts did not give us the impression of being crowded (We sayed through the week, and assume that weekenders flood in over the weekends). Transfers were easy despite having to get a visa to enter Indonesia at the border. Would suggest that you have correct money to buy visa (US25) ready when you arrive on the island.

Not my first time in Singapore but I take time out to write because I was so happy about the hotel deal we got. Our hotel could not have been at a better location. We took mrt from the airport and got off right under the hotel. Although our trip was short (3 nights), we got to see lots because of how central our location was. We walked via underground tunnel to the Esplanade to watch Mamma Mia, and afterwards strolled the vicinity of Esplanade mall from which we saw the Merlion and a weekend outdoor concert.
The following day, it was only a couple of stops to the Sentosa cable car station. Unless you're with kids, it's sufficient to buy cable car tickets and tickets to Underwater World, which for me was the only worthwhile attraction (the monorail tour of the island which is free with admission will already be sufficient tour and get you to the beaches and gardens). From the hotel, there are lots of shopping and dining choices. To catch the local flavor though, take mrt to chinatown (about 2 stops) and shop for cheap trinkets and souvenirs.
Walk two blocks to Maxwell Food Center (hawker's center) to taste the best of Singapore street food. This experience for me is better than any five star dining on the island. Here, go for Hainanese chicken, oyster cake and truly authentic Straits cuisine. Don't forget to try the different local beverages like the Bandung, barley, lime and sugarcane juices popular here. And at $1.20 Sing, try them all and have your fill. Don't expect much in terms of ambience, this is a food court. But if you're looking for an authentic experience, don't miss this. Only other place that rivals this is the Black Pepper Crab of Eng Seng Restaurant. This is an open air eatery at Joo Chiat Place. No ambience. Expect the server to be impatient and growl at you (her demeanor I heard is already legend here). Expect to line up at least 45 minutes especially if you're a big group. But yes, as you can guess, the ordeal is well worth it. Joo Chiat is $6 Sing by taxi.
As mentioned, the location of our hotel is the best part of this last trip. Finally, go see Fullerton Hotel. This is a gorgeous landmark. We didn't catch their chocolate buffet which happens Friday and Saturday nights but heard it was good. We had weekend high tea at the Regent Hotel instead. It was their version of the chocolate buffet. Ok, but rather pricey for just ok. Lots more we saw and did (including Night Safari by mrt), but best of all except for Night Safari, everything was ten minutes walk, two mrt stations or $6 cab ride tops from our excellent hotel at Raffles the Plaza for which we got an incredible deal right here at asia-hotels.com!

It was very close to China Town (5 mins) where we found some great clothes shopping bargains, and a great variety of food to choose from. We also could walk to Orchard Rd (about 30 mins) where we found the shopping excellent.
