Stayed at Bintan Lagoon Resort - Bintan Island (Indonesia), Singapore.
|
The ferry ride from Singapore was approx. 60min and a very causal ride. We were met on the other side by Bintan Lagoon hosts and were taken to the hotel. There is not much else to see on the island. We took a tour of a small village 45min from the resort and the kids enjoyed a view of village living and shopping.

Stayed at Sheraton Towers Singapore - Singapore, Singapore.

We took our kids to the zoo and that was excellent, even though we spent the whole day there, we were able to keep cool, lots of choice for food and cooling shelter for our baby. Taxis are available throughout the day at an affordable price. Shopping haven is just one stop away. Newton food court is just round the corner and seafood is great.

Restaraunts in this area are excellent. Singapore currently has a taxi problem with taxis difficult to get from non-hotel areas eg Science Centre, Museums etc. They do not wait in such areas but wait elsewhere for phone bookings (the $S3.20 surcharge could precipitate this).

Use the taxi from the airport if you're a party of more than two people - it's cheaper than the MRT!

Stayed at Peninsula Excelsior Hotel - Singapore, Singapore.

The hotel is not far from China town and Clark'es Quay is within easy walking distance. The bus services were efficient and quite cheap too and we were able to reach Orchard Road without much trouble.

Stayed at Elizabeth Singapore, The - Singapore, Singapore.

Enjoyed our 3 day stay in Singapore. The very efficent MRT made all sightseeing destinations accessible. We particularly enjoyed the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari. Also enjoyed Deepavali (Festival of Lights) in Little India
and a "self-guided" walking tour of Colonial Singapore. Sentosa was pleasant enough, but none of the "attractions" generated enough interest for us to pay the separate admission fees.

Stayed at Swissotel The Stamford - Singapore, Singapore.

Places to visit are the orchid garden, east coast seafood restaurants, Boat Quay (good food and bars), local food is cheap at many of the food courts almost in each and every shopping Mall. For shoppers, Orchard road is where to be, for electronics SIM LIM Square (bargaining a must). Travel is cheap via a fast expanding underground subway (MTR), use cabs if you are in a crowd. Singapore is known as a fine city, you get fined for every thing, jay walking will cost you 6 months in jail, chewing gum is prohibited.

It is better to take a Taxi from the Airport if you are two or more as Airport Shuttle is S$ 7.00 per person and a Taxi is about 11 S$.

Stayed at Furama RiverFront Singapore - Singapore, Singapore.
|
The first day, I went around in Singapore using the free shuttlebus from the Hotel, Stops at Orchard and Chinatown. The other days I used the clean MRT system. It costs almost nothing, and it is safe and friendly, even during late hours. I visited several places to feel the local atmosphere in little india, arab street and chinatown. The local food courts at different locations, as well as the food markets in little india and chinatown were impressive. The butterfly park on Sentosa Island was fabulous.

Visit the new Theatres building, in Riverside Park. Excellent dining and events. The Singapore Airlines "Hop on" bus is excellent if you want to visit several areas of Singapore during a day. Operates regularly through the day over a circular route.
