J Rivera 29 June 2003
Stayed at  Banyan Tree Bintan - Bintan Island (Indonesia), Singapore.
We spent the entire weekend relaxing in the resort and did not travel around Bintan but from what we saw on the way in and out, there is not much to do in Bintan except golf and beach. We took the ferry from Singapore... pretty much the only complaint for the whole weekend was the mad dash for the ferry conducted by people which left a bad taste in the mouth (nothing as sad as watching people lose all sense of common decency for seats... of which there were plenty).

S Duggal 26 June 2003
Stayed at  Pan Pacific Singapore - Singapore, Singapore.
Best way to get around Singapore from the hotel is by taxi as the MRT is a longish walk.

N Haunch 08 June 2003
Stayed at  Holiday Inn Atrium Singapore - Singapore, Singapore.
Public transport is good in Singapore with taxis generally plentiful (except when it's raining) and reasonably priced. The restaurants along Boat Quay are best avoided, but elsewhere look out for corner places frequented by locals. There is great and inexpensive chinese food to be had in many places including Chinatown.

Stayed at  Keong Saik Hotel - Singapore, Singapore.
Singapore must be one of the easiest cities to travel around in the world. The MRT's are spotelessly clean and extremely reliable, plus, you can get to near enough all destiniations without any trouble. Alternatively, the buses and taxis are just as good, so travel around the city is really not a worry. Would highly recommend visiting the island of Senatosa and doing the Night Safari.

G Clark 13 April 2003
Stayed at  Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel - Singapore, Singapore.
The hotel is also within a short walking distance of the beach, with a nice landscaped seafront with a well maintained footpaths. Access to the seafront is across a road via pedestrian walkways and between some shopping malls. It is a safe area to walk through and all the roads have either footbridges or subways so you don't have to worry about traffic.

A Van essen 05 April 2003
Stayed at  Sheraton Towers Singapore - Singapore, Singapore.
By taxi we have made a trip to Sentosa island, and also several times to the city, Raffles etc.

M Nakagawa 03 April 2003
Stayed at  Tristar Inn Singapore - Singapore, Singapore.
I brought a printout of the hotel's full address and showed it to a taxi driver, which helped the driver to find the hotel without any loss of time.

H Jacobson 01 April 2003
Stayed at  Orchard Hotel Singapore - Singapore, Singapore.
This was our 12th trip to Singapore, which we again much enjoyed. This time we did not use the SIA Stop over package, but made our own arrangements. For first time travellers we would, however, recommend to us the SIA stop-over package. Transfers to/from airport are included plus tours and other discounts. Singapore is super organized to welcome tourists!!

M Thomas 01 April 2003
Stayed at  Keong Saik Hotel - Singapore, Singapore.
We arrived just after the SARS news broke, so it was with some trepidation that my son and I set off from Japan armed with face masks (didn't use them) and alcohol seeped 'wet wipes' (indispensible). Despite the scare, we had a fantastic time during our 8 day stay.

Particularly enjoyed Oliver! at the spectacular new Esplanade theatre (looks like two giant durians), night safari, zoo (half day), Sentosa (1 day), Chinatown, Little India - salty lassis and Indian CDs, Sunday buffet at 'Tandoor' the Indian restaurant at Holiday Inn Park View, and shopping at Borders and Kinokuniya bookstores on Orchard Road.

Public transport very good and easy to use - buy an EZ pass to use on MRT and buses. Email facilities very difficult to find. All in all, Singapore is a fascinating country and extremely user-friendly with plenty to see and do for kids.

A Wilding 31 March 2003
Stayed at  Orchard Hotel Singapore - Singapore, Singapore.
Recommend the 'Hop on, Hop off' bus. Also the Botanic gardens are worth a visit and entrance is free of charge!
