Phan Tiet/Mui Ne is a lovely spot along the Southern cost of Viet Nam. The beaches are very much on par with those of Nha Trang. One serious disadvantage as compared to the latter is the lack of an airport, which implies that you have to travel four hours by car from Ho Chi Minh City - on a road packed with suicidal truck and bus drivers - to get there. It is also difficult to move around in the area due to the lack of sufficient local transport (taxi). A very nice restaurant is the beach-front one of Coco Beach Village. Don't miss the barbecue and the sunsets here.

I just rented a scooter and rode around and explored by myself. I speak the language that's way I did not pay for a tour guide.

If you're looking for shopping, nightlife and a vibrant city, don't come to Mui Ne. But if you're looking for a quiet retreat in a beautiful setting, this is your paradise! This is probably the nicest beach in Vietnam, barring possibly the Phu Quoc Islands.
The biggest downside to Mui Ne, other than being isolated (which is kind of the idea), is transportation. Unless you take the relatively cheap open bus, plan on paying about $60 each was for a car to drive you to Mui Ne from HMC.

After a long travel and an exciting bus trip from Ho Chi Minh City!, we found Mui Ne very relaxing! What a beach! - with exotic surroundings. The food was great, all over! The Bamboo Village restaurant has a wonderful location and serves good food, as well as the small family restaurants at the beach or by the main street.
Scooter trip is mandatory. The sand dunes were also a must. Exiting and embracing Vietnam!

Phan Thiet is a small town whose primary industry is fishing. Generally we stayed at the resort during our short stay, but we took the hotel bicycles into town one day to visit the market and the harbour. This was definitely worth a look as there were many weird and wonderful things to see.

Easily reached by bus from Than Thiet or private transfers available. No tours taken as we just wanted to sit back and relax. We can highly recommend the massage service offered by the hotel-full body massage for 45 minutes, excellent strong massage at a competitive rate.

Activities are plenty: golf, pool, gym, billards, tennis among others and also day trips into the country side. We took a trip to see the laying down buddha (49 meters long).
Borrowed some bicycles from the hotel and rode into town. Cycling through the streets is an experience in itself, not for the fearful. Several restaurants outside of the resort; easily bikeable.
