The subway system in Santiago, Chile, is excellent. It is cheap, clean, fast, efficent, very safe and user friendly.
The Pre-Columbian Art Museum is World Class and the ambience of the Plaza de Armas is pleasing. The Moneda Palace is beautiful and the statue of Salvadore Allende is a poignant reminder of the 1973 coup by Pinochet. The vehicle-free downtown streets and shops are a delight to shoppers and gawkers. The San Cristobal and Santa Lucia Hills are both worth a visit. The Lapis Lazuli House in Bellavista District is nice. The Prego Italian Restaurant near Parinacota Hotel is excellent.
