A11 bus from airport, Purchase octopus card at airport info and cash it in when you leave. Seniors get a very good discount on this card on all travel, trains, buses, trams and Star ferry.
Good info from the Hong Kong tourist bureau in Sydney and in HK. That's all you need. Then select your activity. Recommend the tour to the New Territories, trip to Macau (don't have to do this as a tour, take yourself). The self-guided walks great, and the museum terrific.

I took a day trip on a jet-foil to Macau and it wasn't very interesting. I liked the electronics market on Apliu St near Sham Shui Po MTR.

We took the Hong Kong harbor boat tour, and went to Victoria Peak on our own. I could spend days at Victoria Peak; there's so much there. We loved the high speed train.

Mainly there on business though sea food at Yeu Men Tai and Saikon very good. Communications best and easiest in the world and Ocean Park is a must for families. Also worth looking at south of the HK island and NT.

Hong Kong is a great city because it is so diverse...you can see very traditional, old style ways of life, or experience modern, fast-paced life just across the street. Hong Kong has great dining, and at very good prices.
Public transportation in Hong Kong, although quite crowded at times, was very fast and efficient. This was my second visit to Hong Kong. I hadn`t visited Victoria Peak the first time, but I did on this past visit. I would have to say that this is a MUST for any trip to Hong Kong! Go at night for an amazing dinner with an amazing view!

The walk around Victoria Peak is great! Visit the area around Central, walk around Tsim Sha Tsui, don't forget that there are some lovely islands not far away, and then it's up to you to discover the "charm" of Hong Kong...

Hong Kong is a place where you see great architectures. Stay in Kwoloon, check out the night market and the womens market. Subway takes you everywhere. Take the Star Ferry to Hong Kong island and view the Victoria Harbor.. Also go to Victoria Peak and stay until night fall to see Hong Kong at night.
