Taipa is great - Hong Kong with a Mediterranean flavour. I would certainly go back and stay longer.

Macau, despite its reputation is short of good western restaurants
Try the Mandarin, Italian, good food but pricey.
Walk around Macau and go to the Park and Museum, both are very interesting.
Ignore the attitude of the Macanese, they are rude but better than Hong Kong.

Macau was lovely and 2 days was more than sufficient. We walked around the town, shopped, went to the temples, and tourist sites, and found a lovely restuarant with bargain meals in the centre. We also managed to take a bus to Lantau Island and to the beaches which was very relaxing.

We loved Macau. Great antiques and furniture. Good values on shopping and clothing. Interesting historical sites and museums. We loved the Portuguese influence. Very colorful place.

Taxi rides into town can be expensive. This is where the ferry shuttle comes in useful - take it back and forth to the ferry terminal, and catch cabs from there. Must-sees are Leal Senado; the ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral; and Monte Fort, which also is the site of the museum.
