Though it becomes immediately obvious that Macau is a destination for A) serious gamblers or B) males looking for companionship, the area does offer much in the form of sightseeing. The architechture and cuisine definitely reflect Macau's Portuguese ancestry and the atmosphere is noticably more relaxed than other urban cities in Asia, particularly nearby Hong Kong.
Some specific places I can recommend are St Paul's Church ruins, Fernando's Portuguese restaurant on Hac Sa beach, and for casual night-time drinks, the Napa beach area for many choices of cosmopolitan bars with sidewalk-seating. Club DD's is a popular disco near the Lisboa hotel, but after 1-2:00AM the crowd changes to a more aggressive group, filling with single men and "working girls." Local buses ($5 local currency) and taxis ($10 starting rate) are abundant and convenient.

I walked everywhere. Prices generally lower than Hong Kong except for admittance to museums. The tourist office could help by supplying info about the bus service(with prices). Some sidewalks are in bad condition for walking.

Many tourists only visit Macau peninsula,
but Taipa island is valuable to visit.
The landscape of old houses are beautiful and
exotic. And there were many Portugese restaurants cheeper than Macau.

Macau was very easy to get around. Able to walk to many of the attractions. The buses are cheap and I used one to get to the Maritime Museum and have a cheap look around the city. Clothing was very cheap. Nice laid back city. Lots of people in the shops and hotels etc speak English. Looking forward to coming back to Macau one day.

Macau is very unique, nothing like Hong Kong, China or even Portugal, though you can see these influences all around. I enjoyed the Maritime Museum, small but worth a look. Some very interesting architecture, churches, light house and theater that are worth strolling by should you have the time.

The hotel is located at the very convenient place for sightseeing. I can recommend to my friends this hotel depend on the room. Anyway the price is attractive. My favorite place in Macao are Guia lighthouse and Maritime Museum. The junkboat trip from that Museum was very fun. Rua do Cunha (for meal) and House Museum of Taipa Island are also good.

Macau is a reasonably interesting place to visit. You can do most of it in 2 or 3 days. The beach at Westin resort is worth a visit.

We were in Macau for the Macau Marathon so did not have as much time as we would have liked. Next time though! We were able to walk to the GrandPrix/Wine Museum, Monte Fort, the Ruins of St. Paul's, Largo do Senado, the Museum of Macau (excellent - well-designed and informative) and follow a walking tour down to the Maritime Museum. The Hotel Lisboa was also a great spot to visit and soak up the culture of Macau.
Several of our meals were eaten in small local restaurants - all were good, inexpensive and the staff very friendly and polite.
Macau is a spot I would really enjoy returning to. The mixture of Chinese and Portuguese architecture, the cuisine and its past history, gives Macau a special flare and feel.
