Taking MRT around HK is definite and the hotel is only 3 mins away from the nearest MRT station. Around the hotel are the individual shops in Tsim Sha Tsui which you do bargain hunting. If you are for branded stuffs, visit Harbour City/ Ocean Terminal which is only 10 mins walk away. Ocean Terminal is also the jetty for ferry service to Macau and Shenzhen. About 20 mins away from the hotel is the Hung Hom train station for inter-city transportation. Beware of food or restaurants around this area as it can get quite expensive. Must try the beef noodle in a restaurant next to the hotel (left of the lobby).

Taking the MTR and walking to all destinations is what'll make travelling in Hong Kong special. The city transport is well planned and with a little figuring out, you wouldn't need a cab. Of course once in while you'd take the wrong MTR exits, but with a map handed out at the airport for tourists, you'd be sure to find your way. Also try the city check in at the basement of the IFC mall. While waiting for your flight, do some more shopping at the posh IFC mall and then take the 25 minute bullet train ride to the airport.

If you are planning 5 ~ 6 days stay then the best way to get aroung Hong kong is to be on your own. Plenty of Tourist info literatures available at the airport and you can plan your own tours and journeys. Just buy Octopus card at the airport. This card can be used on Buses including airport to city, Underground, trams, ferry, towards paying entrance fees to many attractions and even at many convinience stores like seven 11.The refund is easy at the airport whilst leaving Hong kong. Pls remember to specify your fares when paying by Octopus card. Travel by tram to the peak and return by bus, Visit Ocean park and one must also take two tours of "behind the scenes" at Ocen park, Visit to largest statue of Buddha are recommended. Visit to all Night markets, Ladies market and Jade market are excellent and depending on the item you want to buy, sometimes you can bargain upto 30% of the offered price! As a thumb rule, one should not offer more than 50% of the the intial quoted price.

Visited Wong Tai Shin and the night market. Esprit shop is a good place to shop as well as the price is good.

My wife and I just got back from a rather exhausting trip to Guangzhou and needed some R&R time before heading back home. We tucked ourselves in at the Marco Polo Gateway and enjoyed every moment of it. Tsim Sha Shui is every bit a walkers paradise - one can spend hours shopping or simply taking in the feel of thousands of people on the streets. We would reccomend Fat Angelos for Italian food - the ambience is excellent and the portions huge. Stop by your nearest Pacific Coffee for great Java and sinfully good Croissants. Shopping takes it toll- so if you need an extra large bag, try the by-lanes near the Hyatt. We bought two titanic suitcases for about 400 HKD - roughly 60 US - a steal by any standards. Don't miss the Esprit Factory Outlet near the Kowloon Hotel- two floors of great bargain shopping for clothes. If you're in the mood for travelling within HK, use the MTR - HK's subway. It's the fastest, cheapest way of getting around town. Try tube-hopping -getting off at stations at random to explore areas less travelled. You could end up coming away from HK with an entirely different set of memories! Happy Travelling!

As a former hong kong resident I visited my favorits spots: oliver's deli counter in the prince's blg (central) and the banana leaf curry house in causeway bay (jaffe road) for lunch. There is a small "prizemart" store in the alleyway close to the "mc'ds" on queens road central. if you are itching for some american brand treats, it is a great little place to visit. A fraction of the cost of similar items in Beijing!!

I mostly went around the Mongkok area. It's a lot cheaper and more organized. You have only 4 main streets of 5 blocks all parallel to another to deal with. One of all shoes and athletics, the other of all cameras, phones and electronics, the third of all RTW and name brands, and the longest row of night market in kowloon area. It's easy to get to as well, an MTR ride to Mongkok, Jordan or Prince Edward station will get you there.

The location, once you walk out of the hotel you will be facing north. If you go towards the north, and northeast of the hotel there are a lot of shops that specialize in car parts, some car racing parts, and many places selling car stereo and car accessories, about 90% Japanese car parts, and maybe 10% BMW and Mercedes car parts. If you went left out of the hotel (West) you will find ladies market within a few blocks. If you walk a little further you will come to the famous Nathan street, and that road is all shops. The hotel is about a 7 minute walk to the Mong Kok MTR (subway).

Stayed at  Kowloon Hotel, The - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
Just out of Kowloon Hotel, we went to the Dragon Palace restaurant. The service and food is fantastic. At Causeway Bay, we can't stop shopping from Sogo to all shops nearby. A tram ride took us to Wan Chai for even more shopping. At Central, we went to The Peak for a good view of Hong Kong from the top. Then walked to experience the famous long escalator where cafes and antiques are found. At Mong Kok, there are lots of theme streets, from electronics to ladies wears to Hello Kitty and Nike shoes.
