Since 1986, I've been to Hong Kong every time I go home for my annual vacation. I have stayed in Hong Kong for 2 or 3 nights with different hotels like Grand, Kowloon (twice), Guangdong, BP International, Newton, Imperial & Evergreen (thrice) to enjoy and relax.
Though I don't eat in restaurants and don't take tours with agents, I enjoy shopping and going to places I know like Kowloon Park, HongKong Park, Ocean Park, Victoria Peak, Central Park, East side of Kowloon. I enjoy most the night market.

Hong Kong is for business people and shoppers. It is a great place to visit and while the shopping is not what it was years ago there are still values to be found for most things...

Whistle stop 1 night tour of HK Island and the night Markets. Underground excellent if maybe a little confusing on knowing which exit to choose. Lots of haggling when buying a Digi Camera but that's part of the fun. Night market is mainly tacky with not much quality on offer, interesting for an hour at best.
HK Causeway Bay is the best shopping for electrical goods (not shopping centres)the choice and number of shops is breathtaking!

Hong Kong is a fantastic fusion of Western and Asian cultures. The mind boggling skyscrapers which populate Hong Kong island are straight out of Blade Runner, while the slightly lower, more crowded areas of Kowloon offer an interesting assortment of sights, sounds, smells and a never ending sea of people.
This time around, I spent much of my time trekking around the city without the aid of the MTR. By far the highlight of any visit to HK is the Peak, especially at sunset. Take the tram to the top of Victoria Peak, walk out doors and take a walk down Lugard Rd. for some spectacular views of the city skyline. Then eat dinner at the reasonably priced (considering where it is) Cafe Deco. Other enjoyable experiences: Stanley market, Zoological Botanical Gardens, Temple Street. The ideal tourist trip to Hong Kong would probably run about three to four days. Unless you love crowds and air pollution, the city can start to get to you after awhile. Especially the always crowded, hawker filled Nathan Road.
Good restaurants...For a cheap pub style breakfast, go to Murphy's Pub on Nathan Road, opens early and the portions are huge. Best food I ate in Hong Kong after quickly tiring of noodles, Nomads Mongolian Grill on Kimberley Rd.
Best deals...Temple Street Night Market. If you're into shopping, this is where you'll find the cheapest, if not the widest assortment, of kitch and fake Rolex's.
Overall, Hong Kong is a city that everyone should experience once in a lifetime...

Temple Street market is a block away from Evergreen hotel where I stayed; and Mong Kok is only a stroll away. The Peak offers a breathtaking view of the city, so include it in your "must see" list. Bring your walking shoes and you'll see a facet of HK that can only be discovered on foot.

Location is good - near Fa Yuen Street which is similar to Ladies Night Market except that the stalls are opened in the day and the items are cheaper than those that sold in Ladies Night Market.
