The Chinatown part of Singapore in under rated. Everyone makes a big deal baout Orchard Road. More malls than humans need in a lifetime. Chinatown has nice architecture, reminding one of a Chinese port city of the 1800's. Food is chepa and good. And it has alot more China feel to it than other Chinatowns, like Vancouver or New York.

Visited Singapore Expo, as have visited Singapore many times had no trouble getting around.
One possible consideration could be to run a shuttle bus a couple of times a day to Orchard Road or other shopping locations and places of interest.

If you fly singapore air - the splendour card they give for free is good and gives you good tips on where to eat. If you have a chance make a trip out to The national stadium, where they have a flea market on Saturday's and have some restaurants there.
