Nice destination for relaxing but would not reccomend for shopping. Prices seem to be higher than US and Australia.

Afternoon tea at Raffles hotel for $5 is wonderful. Also the viewing gallery at UBO near the river is good. Orchard Road is fab for the shops and Singapore big sale is on from 30th May until 13th July bargains for all!! - 7th Storey Hotel best place to stay for value and location.

Stayed at Angsana Resort & Spa Bintan Island - Bintan Island (Indonesia), Singapore.

As usual, the resort offered all the facilites for a holiday, so there was no need to explore Bintan Island. The two excursions we took were a trip to the Ole Ole shopping village (very much for tourists) and Saturday night at the Mana Mana resort open air disco.

The food stall/fruit stands in Little India are great bargains. I have never had sweeter Fuji apples, pineapples, or nectarines.

Stayed at Gallery Hotel, The - Singapore, Singapore.

The hotel is on the riverside and the well maintained riverside road lead me to the Daimaru department store, Qlarke-Qay and Chinatown. To go to Orchard, Raffle's, Marina, I took a taxi (a few minutes ride). Near the hotel, there are new comer hip restaurants area. Try the Japanese local food (Okinawa) food restaurant "EN".

We didn't travel around that much since it's close to shops and restuarants. For a nice meal check out the resturant on the corner underneath the Conrad hotel across form the Exhibition center.

Stayed at Swissotel The Stamford - Singapore, Singapore.

Great location of the hotel, the MRT station is accessible from the hotel and is easy to use to get around the city and outlying areas. Excellent services within the hotel. The Thai and Singapore restaurants on the second and third floors are very good quality. Being able to walk to the other shopping malls in the area from the Stamford is a plus.

Singapore is a shopper's paradise. So if you want to shop for jewelry, electronics, camera..this is the place. Also, lots of foot massages, which were very good, albeit painful. Lucky Plaza on orchard road has many, BUT much more expensive than Chinatown's, which I liked better and was S$20 cheaper.
I only stayed 2 days, would have liked to stay longer...so I didn't take any tours. There are many available, as well as beaches to swim at and Malaysia right next door to visit. There is a Night Safari which I wanted to go to, tho I didn't, however, I was told to take mosquito repellant.
I used buses, which are readily available near the hotel, and I used a taxi, and the fare was very fair. As for restaurants, I am a vegetarian, so I sampled some of the easy to eat street food. However, fish and all kinds of food are available, including frog, shark, jellyfish, (all UGH to me).
