Stayed at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel - Singapore, Singapore.

Taxi is main transportation to and from hotel, there is a shopping mall 3 blocks away, but that is the only walking-distance attraction.

Stayed at Fullerton, The - Singapore, Singapore.

Singapore is continuously improving, but as a leisure destination just a few days are adequate, then move on to the greater glories of the region (on this trip we went to Angkor Wat and Miniloc and Lagen Islands in the Philippines).
If staying at the Fullerton, Haku restaurant at One Fullerton is highly recommended. Shopping is not the bargain it used to be and, unless on sale, European and Australian brands are best purchased elsewhere. Surprised to find brands such as Collette Dinigan, Etro and Kate Spade widely available - but these are certainly no bargain.
Raffles still worth visiting for shopping and a Singapore Sling and shopping remains best on and around Orchard Road - malls away from this area are run-down and very average.

I would recommend a trip along down the Singapore River. This is a very lively multi cultural area of Singapore. A real mixture of the old and the new. The CBD skyscrapers dwarf the old style buildings on the waters edge giving a clear indication of Singapore's past and present exsistence.
Also did a harbour cruise to Kuso Island which was very good. The Philips Channel is a sight. I have never seen so many container vessels but Kuso Island is well worth a visit to see the Chinese Temple. Little India is also worth walking around.
One good recommendation for food is to go the Asian Food Court on Orchard Road. You have lots of choices and the prices are very, very cheap. It really is an experience.
Just walking through some of the shopping malls on Orchard St is a worthwhile exercise but take a large bag as your bound to end up taking advantage of the extensive and cheap range of electrical and clothing ranges on offer!!!

Stayed at Mayang Sari Beach Resort - Bintan Island (Indonesia), Singapore.

Bintan is a quiet destination, for anyone wanting total relaxation. Can recommend the banana boat and the shopping village, Oleh Pasah Pasah.

We have been to Singapore four times in the last 12 months. We absolutely love it!!! The people, the food, the shopping, the clean environment, all of Singapore. We haven't done a lot of sight seeing though, choosing mainly to stay in the city centre. The hotel (M Hotel) we stayed at was absolutely fantastic! This was our second time in this hotel! We received exceptional service!
You don't need to spend a lot of money on food in Singapore. The variety of hawker centres are a must to try especially Newton, Lau Pa Sat and Kopitiam.
You must go to Orchard Road for retail therapy. You can start from the bottom and work yourself up the street. Bugis Junction is known for its nightly flea market stalls. It can be very crowded but this just adds to the overall ambience. I love shoes so I usually head to the ground level of Takashimaya at Nge Ann City (Orchard Road). Upscale brands such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany etc, are also located in this shopping centre.
Taxis are very cheap in Singapore and we used it to get around most of the time. the drivers are usually friendly and very honest. The MRT is very efficient and very cheap!
The thing that impressed me about Singapore is its people. I have never come across such friendly, helpful people. The customer service is just fantastic. They really make sure that the customer is happy. My shopping expeditions have always been great experiences. I'm already planning my next trip!!

I found that hours could be spent just wandering around Chinatown admiring renovated buildings. MRT system is wonderful. Spotlessly clean, easy changing direction, cheap, and frequent. Couldn't fault it. Singapore itself is also spotless - anyone who could not find oodles to do is hard to please. Good shopping centres all around town within easy reach by MRT or bus.

Stayed at Harris Resort Batam - Batam Island (Indonesia), Singapore.
|
Visited Nagoya Town and shopped at Ramayana and Robinson. Things are cheap, especially with the Indonesian Rupiah at 5200 to 1 Singapore Dollar. Harris Resort (as do most other hotels) provide shuttle service to major destinations within Batam at reasonable rates.

Stayed at Berjaya Hotel, Duxton Road - Singapore, Singapore.

Singapore is my favourite city in Asia. I was there for work this time, and so had little time to shop or explore, but can recommend taking an evening stroll around the old colonial district, as the buildings are well lit.
Pop into Holland Village for a taste of expat life, Chinatown for Chinese food and knick-knacks, and Raffles for a cocktail. As a Hong Kong resident, Borders, Kinokuniya, British India and Country Road are my favourite shops in Singers, though they would probably not appeal so much to a Sydney-sider.

If your objective to shop electronic stuff I recomended to search in Sim Lim area or Mustafa Center for best price but your bargaining skills is must! If you want to Night Safari, dont take it too nighty so you don't miss the last MRT to Orchad.
No food or restaurant recommended in S'pore. :(
