Boat tours are great. Can visit more remote destinations like My Lai from here. Popular for inexpensive custom-tailored clothing...but you get what you pay for, quality generally sub-standard.

It is on a busy street and a bit noisy at night but after 10pm everything quiets down. It is also next to a grocery store which was nice and within walking distance to the Old Quarter.

Took a tour with Sinh Cafe when I was in HCMC. It is really cheap and well worth every cent. The guides were great and got to see alot of HCMC and Saigon without having to put up with walking in the heat. The cyclos and motorcycle taxis can be a pain but if you learn to put a smile and say no, you'll get by. HCMC's traffic system can be said in one word "chaotic" by any means. DON'T EVER TRY TO DRIVE in that city. Crossing the road can be nerve wrecking. Once you get used to it, you'll live! Remember to bring an extra bag - becasue things are cheap!

Ho Chi Minh City is a place where you will find many inexpensive things and is a cultural rich destination. If you have time, there are many places to explore and the help desk will certainly provide you with a lot of choices. Even if you have only a day or two, by walking aroung the city, you will still find many things to see and shop. Most importantly, people there do not pester you when you say "no". Quite a safe place to move around, even if you are alone.

Hoi An is a most charming town. The Market has a personality all its own. Much fun to visit. The old shop houses and family chapels were an insight into old Hoi An as a trading port and into how many residents still live today.
Individual boat trips are easy to arrange in town or at the hotel. Scenic rides to craft villages make a pleasant hour or two.
Restaurants are atmospheric and fun.

Hoi An is delightful...much to do, see and buy! Be careful when chosing a tailor shop...all are not created equal. Great bargains though and allow some time for fittings and making choices. Rented bikes and really enjoyed getting out of town into the rice fields, along the beach..very deserted and quite wonderful, and into an adjacent town along the water. Less traffic and a laid back pace. Exploring the old town very interesting. Nice change from the cities. Definetly plan some time in Hoi An.

Hoi An is the place in Vietnam where we spent most money ... we got loads of clothes made and they turned out very well ... we got most of the items in a shop called Ha Chan ... shirts for $5 and suits for $25 ... the shirts turned out very well!!! Even got shoes made for $5!!! We were there for the full moon celebration and this is a lovely evening ... the whole town partakes - they have no electrical light only red lanterns ... worth being there for!!
