Stayed at Gloria - La Paz, Bolivia.
La Paz itself was a great city. I'm looking forward to seeing more of it in the future. The food in La Paz isn't particularly good, but there is a great gyro place just 2 blocks down the street (on Potosi) from the hotel where I had an excellent sandwich on my first night. The meat's turning on skewers right in the doorway. You can't miss the place if your nose is working! Give yourself a couple of days to acclimatize if you're arriving in La Paz from sea level, and take taxis for the first day or two -- everything seems to be uphill, and walking uphill can be pretty hard for the first couple of days because of the altitude! If you are flying in/out on Bolivian airlines, I recommend that you confirm and reconfirm your reservations beforehand. I had a bit of a problem flying out of Bolivia, and would NOT recommend the Bolivian airlines (Lloyd Boliviano in particular) if you have another option!!! When I got to the airport on the day I was to fly out, the airline staff told me that the flight I'd purchased (for which I was holding a ticket) simply didn't exist. It wasn't cancelled, or anything -- it just did not exist. I ended up stuck in El Alto airport for 7 hours before being rerouted through Lima overnight, which was not pleasant!
