Make sure your guide takes you across the river at the Japanese bridge to eat at restaurants frequented by Cambodian locals. Food was terrific, ambience was unlike anything I've ever experienced...in a good way! The Genocide Museum was incredibly moving. Since there were vivid pictures of the Killing Fields themselves, you might spare yourself the long and bumpy ride to the Killing Fields outside of town. We were emotionally drained enough at the museum. There is a shooting range about 3 miles past the airport on an army base. I'm not much of a gunslinger, but it was a thrill to fire off an M-16, AK-47, Uzi, etc. Very safe place and helpful and skilled staff---army cadets!

S21 and the Killing Fields are a must for everyone....a very moving experience. The Silver Pagoda, Russian Market and Central or Old Market were also worth a visit. Some nice looking restaurants along the sea front.

Tuk tuks pick you out as a tourist but you look like one anyway so who cares, they're a really nice way of getting around. The Goldfish River Restaurant is lovely - on the riverfront near where the boat to Siem Reap leaves from. And the food at the FCC is very good. If you're getting the bus anywhere from PP make sure you book your tickets the day before and get there early to claim your seat -they seem to overbook and then give out the seats as people turn up. Go to Sihanoukville, it's lovely!

Get a driver to see the sights. It's cheap, friendly and very safe as Phnom Penh at night can be very dangerous (a big gun culture), do take the speed boat to or from siem reap at $25. It is fast, comfortable (not like the roads) and the scenery is breathtaking in parts.

So many things have changed in the last five years. The Baan Thai is a nice Thai restaurant.

The restaurant on street at entrance to the hotel (external, but closest neighbour to hotel) offered excellent food, our very best in Cambodia, at low price. Warm and welcoming service. Restaurant is highly recommended.
The Tuol Sleng museum is a must. We also enjoyed walking on the promenade along the river. One full day in Phnom Penh is enough!

Royal palace worth a visit. Taxi that collected us from the airport - drove us around for our entire stay in Phnom Penh. Great restaurant overlooking the river.
