Ignore guide books advice about travelling in China and Shenzhen in particular. The city is changing fast, has been doing so for 10 years, and now has some great parks and leisure areas. And as always, make certain taxis use the 'meter'.

It is worth visiting the Chinese cultural theme park . A bit expensive, but you have to see the big shows they put on. The horse show at 3pm is great and the dance show at 5pm is fantastic, a must see.
If you are eating out, the Futian district on the road to the theme park is much better than the area around the hotel.

In my memory, to pass from Hong Kong to Shenzen is very hard and long time takes.

A quick 3 minute walk to the mall with all sorts of good deals.

We visited the China Folk Culture Villages, which apart from being a little pricey compared with local costs, was very entertaining. The taxi's journey was a good white-knuckle ride.

Watch out for crazy drivers....I went on a factory visit & they supplied a driver. This guy had an attitude beyond belief. Driving a very small underpowered Chinese manufactured car, he played chicken with buses & large trucks at very high speeds. This went on for 40 miles out & 40 miles back. I was totally exhausted & relieved to make it back to the hotel alive.

First time to China and had a good person to show me around. Would have been hard in Shenzhen by myself and a little easier in Beijing.

great location if you want to be close to the railway station. otherwise, it's somewhat far from all the great shopping malls in shenzhen. the hotel is nice but is also surrounded by shady characters.

They have good taste at the restaunat.
The Hotel is conveniently close to the chinese custom house near Hong kong.
