Stayed at Turin Palace Hotel - Turin, Italy.

We were in Torino for family visit and stayed only 2 nights.
Interesting places to visit are just on walking distance, and public transport is very efficient and easy.

Stayed at Gallery Art - Florence, Italy.
|
Book gallery tickets in advance on the internet, or you will stand in queues for hours. Don't go mid August, all the best restaurants are closed, we had to eat touristy food which is not great.
There is a new restaurant across the Ponte Vecchio called Beccofino, a modern Italian trattoria, food is good and not too expensive, sit outside.

Stayed at La Bougainville - Capri Island, Italy.
|
I would recommend to stay at least one night in Capri. That will allow you to see the island without the hordes of tourists, and you will be able to experience the local flavors of the island. Start your day in the morning (like 8-9 am) and hike to the various scenic points in order to enjoy the views all to yourself. The lift to Monte Solaro was amazing, especially in the morning before the tour groups. It is an amazing view of the island and the bay.

Stayed at Maxim Verona, Hotel - Verona, Italy.
|
It was our second time to Verona Opera Festival and we really enjoy it. But in July there are too many tourists in Verona, every place is crowded with people. The possibility of buying bus tickets only from tobaccoshops is very difficult.

Stayed at Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria - Sorrento, Italy.
|
Sorrento is a busy and vibrant place. We intended to travel around but spent our 10 day holiday in Sorrento. Pompeii, Capri and the Amalfi coast are all nearby. There was much to see, a lovely bay and harbour, the main piazza is a great venue for drinking cappuccino and 'people watching.' Lots of shops in the main street and more in the small alleyways leading off the main areas.
Food was either excellent or fantastic with a full range from the inexpensive cafes serving basic pasta dishes to the more expensive Il Bucco and La Carusso retaurants - Highly recommend Il Buco where we were pampered and treated to excellent food and wine for prices comparable with a good quality restaurant in England.

Stayed at Montresor Giberti - Verona, Italy.

Verona was a surprisingly lovely city full of historic buildings, some back to Roman times. An ideal city for a short break enjoying the sites, the food, the wine and the weather!

The resturant at the Subascio was the best part of the hotel and I would recommend dinning there not so much for food but ambiance and veiw. Assisi definately worth seeing.

Stayed at Hilton Rome Airport - Rome, Italy.
|
Taking the special direct train from the main Rome Termini was the best/easiest way to arrive at the airport, leaving every thirty minutes.
