Stayed at Coronade Hotel Kuala Lumpur, The - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Best place to shop with reasonable price (Berjaya Time Square, Mid Valley Mega Mall, Sungei Wang Plaza, KL plaza, BB Plaza and KLCC and many more). Tour to Genting highlands was remarkable (one day tour, reservation available through the hotel), not forgetting visit to P. RAMLEE (famous late actor) museum gallery. The food was nice and lots of selection. Really enjoyable trip.

Stayed at Tanjung Sanctuary Langkawi - Langkawi, Malaysia.

Recommend doing the snorkelling trip to Palau Payer - was the most awesome trip. But be warned to apply a good waterproof sunblock as everyone's backs got quite burnt from spending all day floating in the water.

KL is not really a place to sightsee. But is is a place to shop and eat. In a short weekend trip, would recommend a walk through the main shops in bukit bintang. For food, one of my favourite places is the Overseas Chinese restaurant at Jalan Imbi, which has the best roast pork. Their prawns in sweet black sauce is also to die for. (Note - if you're going to eat there, do call and reserve a table in advance together with a portion of the roast pork as it sells out fast).
On this last trip i also found a little cafe in the first floor of Sungei Wang shopping centre, where the local designer shops are, which had the most sinful and largest chocolate banana cake I've ever seen. On Sat night paid a visit to Zouk. Was very impressed overall with the interior and the music but was very surprised that it was very empty even by around 12pm. Perhaps the crowd comes along later but we didn't stay long enough to find out.

Eat meals locally in China Town. We used public transport to visit Melaka, Cameron Highlands, took boat ferry from Perli Kedah to Langkawi, returned to KL with AsiaAirlines, re-booked 1 night at Swiss Inn prior to departure back to Australia.

Stayed at Bon Ton Restaurant & Resort - Langkawi, Malaysia.

Langkawi is a lovely island, fairly quiet on the nightlife side but if you like your food it is amazing! The seafood is fantastic, especially at the Bon Ton and for traditional and very cheap Malay, the hawker cafe 'BZ Sempoi' is definately worth a visit (centre of the island). The cable car is a good morning out with great views and a sunset cruise is a worthwhile experience. The best bit is just jumping into a car and exploring - we discovered the new Four Seasons resort - an amazing place! Generally, a great place to relax and unwind.

Stayed at Sabah Hotel - Sandakan, Malaysia.

Outstanding seafood restaurant, Ocean King Seafood Restaurant, 7km outside Sandakan on the front overlooking the sea. A 10 ringit taxi ride and the food was very good. Wildlife Expeditions was the best tour company in our opinion.

Stayed at Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort - Langkawi, Malaysia.

Definitely go to the "Barn Thai" restaurant for lunch or dinner. It's about a 40-minute cab ride from the hotel, but worth every penny because the restaurant is in the middle of an awesome mangrove forest.

Stayed at Jesselton Hotel, The - Sabah, Malaysia.

Best sunset that we can remember seen from Waterside restaurant area. Check out the drink prices at all venues as the Irish bar was double one a few doors down. No great food experiences at all in KK as food generally lacked spice. Night market is only for counterfeit goods and doesn't match markets in Thailand, Vietnam or China for range and quality.

Stayed at Royale Bintang, The - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

We visited KL Twin Towers which was free but you do need to book to go up. Also went to the Orchid Gardens and Bird Gardens - well worth it. Meals in China Town were excellent value and very tasty. We walked, took the trains and used taxis when our feet gave out and we were exhausted from the heat!

Stayed at Oriental Hotel Penang - Penang, Malaysia.
|
As my friend and I took the whole day tour recommended by the hotel, we visited quite a number of places. We visited the Esplanade, Kek Lok Si Temple, Snake Temple, Wat Chayamankalaram, Dharmikarama Burmese Temple, Penang Hill, Butterfly Farm and other factory selling accessories.
You will never go hungry in Penang. The food there is EXCEPTIONALLY DELICIOUS! Sedap!!! One thing you can't miss is the Penang Laksa. With the mild sour gravy with thick bee hoon, its one taste you can't forget. Other than that, don't forget the roadside stalls and the night market in Lor Selamat and Lor Baru. The Chay Kway Teow there is excellent and not gorget the rest of the stalls that sell local delights.
