I recommend travellers to walk this island, or take bus. Macau has many unknown beautiful spots worthy to visit, but they aren't usually shown in guidebook. The reason is, the editor or writer never walks around this island, so they hardly know about local valuable spots. Sometimes it's still unavailable for foreign tour guides, because they just go to Macau and quickly leave, not having enough time to know about this island. So, we travellers should take bus, walk, drop in traditional stores. Macau is very safe, pretty different from Hong Kong concerning safety.

I have visited a few Macau landmark tourist spots. Traveling around is pretty easy and interesting. The well operated bus services offered a low cost transportation, fare ranging from MOP2-5 only. The casino is pretty disappointing, congested the air is not very ventilated and full of cigaratte smokes and nearly choked me, it is nothing compared to Las Vegas which has many many good and free shows, the casino in Las Vegas are huge and the air is well ventilated. One thing funny about Lisboa casino is that it doesn't allow me to bring in the bread nor keeping it at the storing counter. The staff even suggested me to eat all my bread on the spot!

You're looking at about USD10 for a taxi ride into Macau proper from the Westin resort (good for some sightseeing and furniture shopping during the day and the casinos by night) and about USD40 for a meal for two in a local cafe in Coloane village. The much touted Fernando's restaurant is well worth a trip (booking ahead is advised). Curried crab, grilled chicken and garlic prawns are all great -- but we love pork and they have some great ribs. Portions are very generous (as is the pitcher of Sangria at USD10!)

Still possible to be in 10' at Lisboa hotel if you are tempted by a bit of gambling.

Best meals at Fernando's in Hac Sa Wan, and Club Military near the Lisboa Hotel. Club Military is a restaurant-standard hotel, with terrific food, great service, and wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Macau is great - go to the square and just wander around.
