I would highly recommend the Macau Arts Festival in October every year - the programme is usually good by international standards, and worth a stay behind for at least one or two evenings, accompanied with good food which seems almost everywhere in Macau.

Went the the lisboa for some gambling action - excellent - dont play any of the games you know - much better to play some of the local stuff - dice & buttons are the easiest - that way it is an experience if you lose and a huge high if you win - spend a couple of minutes watching how people bet and then smack down a couple of dollars - great fun and we only saw about 5 other westerners - it was absolutely jam packed and really smokey. second floor is the best high ceilings and loads of noise. we won some and lost some and finally walked out about 500HK lighter after about 2 hours but it was worth it.

As always the furniture shopping in Macau is fantastic. We also went out to a club called Green Spot on Saturday night and had a fabulous time. There are two live bands playing.

Restuarants- Fernandos, Ngai Tims in Coloane and O'Manuel in Taipa are all good in their own ways. The hills behind the hotel are excellent for walking/running in.

The view from the hotel was great, but the muddy water was not something pleasant to look at.

I enjoyed Macau. It remains a nice break away from the frantic pace in Hong Kong. Transportation connections to Macau and to the hotel were flawless, and Macau is an easy place to tour on foot because it is so small. (I did it easily with two small children in tow.)
