I have been to the Cameron highlands 3 times now, the jungle walks are excellent. You don't need a guide but have to be fairly fit. Do go to the Smokehouse for tea and a scone and do visit the tea plantation. There is only enough to do for maybe 2 days and it's quite a long journey 3.5 -4 hours from KL. You can get a taxi for about 200RM.

You must have your own car, otherwise very inconvenient. But, anyhow, cool, peaceful, silent. One of the best resort of Malaysia.

A very facinating place to visit. The rich rain forest, waterfalls and the vegetable garden. Good to stay in apartment where you can cook the fresh veg.

Not so much to do in Cameron Highlands. Plan on relaxing. It rains a lot too, something the tourist brochures don't tell you. Bring an umbrella or raincoat.

Must check out this night market (not sure what is it call)....but I know it is between two petrol kiosk (gas stations) i.e. Shell and Petronas. Food is excellent and cheap. Must try!
However, can forget about the Boh Tea Plantation. Quite a distance away on a bumpy road. Nothing much to view.

The "lake" over which there is a view was a brown mud hole when we were there...the kind of place that sounds great in ad-agency produced tourist brochure copy. Don't go to the Lakehouse for a view of the lake!
Hotel restaurant had nice food, but pricey by Malaysian standards. Our dinner cost as much as our room.

I had visited so many interesting places, flower nurseries, Ye olde Smokehouse, vegetable farms, cactus valley and many more. The most interesting was watching the procecess involved in the production of fragrant tea at Sungai Palas Tea Estate and relax with a cup of Boh tea at the tea shop. Here, located in a cool mountain hideaway distant from all the frantic rush of city life.

There really isn't that much to see in Cameron Highlands. It's only a good place to relax and soak in the old English ambience, if that's what you're looking for. We went to Smokehouse for dinner. The staff was much friendlier and more professional than at Lakeside but the food was quite poor and pricey considering its below standard quality. Smokehouse is located just off a main road which makes Lakehouse, perched on a hill, a better location, though we found Smokehouse to be better maintained, both inside and outside.

Cameron Highlands is beautiful to visit and a welcome relieve from the heat of KL. The tea plantations are well worth a visitas are all the nurseries. For afternoon tea, especially the Devonshire Cream teas, visit The Old Smokehouse between Brinchang and Tanah Rata.

The Cameron Highlands offers a pleasant climate, beautiful country, and a few tourist atractions. It is really a destination for peace and quiet. The golf course up the road is delightful.
