For good seafood with reasonable price, one should go to the Portuguese Settlement. Although price is reasonable, the service is not good as I think they have too much business. View on top Christ Church is fantastic for photo taking.

I went to Melaka by my own transport-car. We visited Jonker street which is full of antique shops, local delicacies restaurants, pubs and cafes. There are also nonya restaurants in Melaka Raya which serves local peranakan food which is a mixture of chinese and peranakan food. We also visited the A Famosa which is located within walking distance from the hotel.

As I had been to the tourist sites in Malacca, my theme for this visit was primarily confined within the walking proximity of the old Malacca town. Had a deliberate time to admire the Peranakan influence which characterise the enamel tiles of the shophouses exterior. Lots of Peranakan food outlets along the street of Jln Tan Cheng Lock. Discover for yourself! There are countless of small hawker-vendors in various corners of the old Malacca town. As for an evening drink, try the Geographer Room, only less than 3-minute walk from Hotel Puri. Incidentally, the Geographer Room was also featured in a HK movie .

Our group of 12 took a tri-shaw tour of the local sites. The Malay Village with the Living Museum was the highlight as well as China Hill (Cina Bukit). The well is must see too. We also ate Nonya food at the Bull Dog Cafe which is very family freindly and has a great koi pond in the middle of the restaurant. The owner let the young children feed the koi as a special treat! Food was great and the atmosphere very relaxed!

If you want to visit Malacca, you have to try the rice balls and chicken for lunch. The restaurant is located near Stadthuis. And for dinner, do not forget to try Baba Laksa.

I drove up to Malacca from Singapore. Driving time is approximately 3 hours. Jonker St is a must see in Malacca for all the Peranakan antiques and also for the chicken rice balls.

Malaka is a nice very small town where you feel the old days of Malaysia remaining. You can visit the whole city within a day and don't miss the night market, close on tuesdays. The antiques are pricey (more than in singapore!), the geographer bar on the main street is great and you will find two or three nice restaurants if you don't want to eat in the street hawkers.

Drove along NS highway, exit at Ayer Keroh toll, maintain on dual-lane roads towards Pusat Bandar. When in town, have to rely on instincts rather than signs as there are lots of one-way traffic & confusing signs esp due to the roadworks & contruction. From hotel, all town attractions are a walking distance, advisable to leave car at hotel.

Chicken Rice: along Jln Ujong Pasir, just after Coastal Park Hotel and before a Petrol Station. The chicken rice stall inside the coffee shop is superb. Further up the road and just after a small bridge, immediately turn right into Muara Sg. Duyung, the grilled fish (Ikan Baker) here is special. Jonker Street:- do visit again in the night.

My 3rd visit to Melaka had proved to be fruitful as while walking to explore the historical town, I had found a street where all wholesalers of all kinds of goods are located. It is a shopping heaven for me as I had bought goods at prices that are very reasonable and considerably cheap compared from retail price that I found in other commercialised shops. The wholesalers are also very friendly and helpful as to giving useful advise on the usage and care on the goods purchased.
