The beach is beautiful, and clean. Its a pity that the charges for sea sports is rather steep, otherwise it would be most pleasurable to try all of them :) The restaurants are great too but as mentioned, pocket burning...

Must take the Mangrove tour--excellent! Small boat with only about 7 people. Saw all kinds of plants and wildlife. Felt like I was on the Discovery Channel!

We did not go anywhere on the island. Spent all 3 days in the leisure centre, the pool and the beach. The fourth day is kind of boring already.

Did not have long enough to go on tours but did some walks to the local seafood restaurant which looked spectacular. When raining the buggy service was invaluable and very efficient. Ate mostly at Mayang Sari or the Nirwana. Food good at both. Massage Spa complex beautiful at Mayang Sari but too expensive. Had same treatment at Nirwana for much less. Would have preferred to use the Asari complex but just too expensive. Bike hire at Mayang Sari not flexible, had to pay for 2 hours when we only wanted them for 30 minutes.

Orzo was good. Breakfast buffet did not change the food daily so much. I was tired about the food for 4 nights stay.

Bintan Island is easy to get to by way of Singapore and then a ferry ride. However, it is important to book the ferry on-line before you go on your trip. The ferry's have limited space and fill up fast. The Island is beautiful and the location is paradise.

Being a nature love, I would say that the beach is an excellent place. The wind is strong and the waves are inviting. Beware of the cunning WAVES!!! It almost turned sour when I was caught and had to struggle in the strong current! Without the help of a swimmer nearby and the lifeguard, I would have drowned. My HEROS!!! :)
If you are a fanatic about sunrise and sunset, you should note the SUNRISE! I had a wonderful view of the sun rising at 6 a.m. Bintan time. The scene is just too beautiful. I took many shots of it.
Try the SPA! Lots of massage packages to choose from. I went for their Traditional Indonesian Massage. It was an experience.
The food was fine, nothing extra ordinary. Well, muslims can feast as the food is Halal.
The last thing you should do is SHOPPING! If your intention is to shop, STAY AT HOME!!! Only thing that attracted me was their BATIK SARONGS (beach skirts).

We had a good meal in spice in the Mayang Sari Hotel last time I went but now they've changed the menu and taken the only vegetarian dish off the menu. Dissapointing!!
